Thaba-Bosiu Thaba-Bosiu is an historical plateau located in the Maseru region of Lesotho . This site, situated approximately 25 km from the country’s capital, Maseru, was once the stronghold of Chief Moshoeshoe and his Basotho people. What remains today is evidence of the Chief’s dwelling and villages with a cemetery . Thaba-Bosiu is Lesotho’s great national monument. There is an information centre available if visitors would like to visit the site using a recently tarred road . The Thaba-Bosiu plateau has about a 2 km² surface and a height of 1 804 meters above sea level . The name Thaba-Bosiu means “Mountain of the Night ”.
Ha Kome Cave Dwellings An 18th-century hideout became a permanent and ongoing residence for one Lesotho tribe. THE CLIFF OVERHANGS OF HA Kome are a series of cave dwellings an hour’s drive from Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. While their exact history is unknown, the current inhabitants are descended from Basia tribesmen and women who first made the overhang home in the late 1800s. The Mefcane (“the Crushing”) was a period of intense socio-political unrest during the 1820s and 30s throughout southern Africa, defined by widespread drought, forced migration, and inter-tribal warfare.

AFRISKI RESORT Afriski is the only skiing resort in Lesotho, located 3050 m above sea-level (just below Mahlasela Pass, 3222 m) in the Maluti Mountains, operating in Southern Africa near the northern border of Lesotho with South Africa. It is one of only two ski resorts in southern Africa. The resort is a 4.5-hour drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria via the steep tarred Moteng pass and the Mahlasela pass; it sits along Highway A1 . The resort can accommodate about 320 people and offers a 1 km ski slope, beginners slope and operates during the winter months (June–August). Afriski also operates in the summer months and offer a variety of activities, from mountain biking, guided Enduro motorbike trips, paintball, hiking, trail running, and more .
Mokhotlong Pony Trek: No visit to Lesotho would be incomplete without a pony trek . It is the transport of choice for most Basotho as the sturdy ponies handle the narrow trails better than any 4X4 can. Many of the ponies used are owned by Basotho's . There are many day outings that are around 3 to 4 hours long. If you want to experience a bit of Basotho culture as well the ideal opportunity you need to take advantage of is the overnight pony treks. Overnight treks can be tailor-made to your requirements . Ha Lejone Ha Lejone is a village in the Leribe District of northern Lesotho It is on a ridge above a bend of the Malibamat'so River 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) east of the Mafika-Lisiu Pass, which links Ha Lejone with the community of Pitseng . It is also the northern extent of the high water backed up by the Katse Dam, 25 kilometers (16 mi) to the south . There is a bridge across the river just south of the village .
