optical fibers, which limits the information carrying capacity.

«<* In multimode fibers, intermodal dispersion arises from the fact that each
mode in an optical pulse travels a slightly different distance and thus arrives at
the fiber end at slightly offset times.

“* Chromatic dispersion stems from the variation in the propagation speed of
the individual wavelength components of an optical signal.

speed.
