PRESENTATION:
The boyscouts are setting
up the auditorium for the
Pupils Government
meeting. There are 297
monoblock chairs which
they have to set up in
rows of either 3 , 6, or 9.
Which are the possible
setups?

a.What is asked?
b.What are given?
c.How do we solve
the problem?

297 divided by 3
99 chairs in each row
297 divided by 9
33 chairs in each row
297 divided by 6
It is not divisible by 6, chairs cannot
be arranged equally in each row.

There is another
way of identifying if
a number is
divisible by another
number without
actual division.
The rules help
save time and
effort.

A number is divisible by 3 when the
sum of its digit is divisible by 3.
A number is divisible by 6 if it is
divisible by 2 and 3.
A number is divisible by 9 when the
sum of its digit is divisible by 9.
Divisibility Rules for 3, 6 and 9

PRACTICE
EXERCISES

Directions: Identify whether each larger number is divisible
by the smaller number. Write “Yes” if the number is divisible,
and “No” if it is not. Write your answer on your notebook.
1.Is 213 divisible by 3?
2.Is 519 divisible by 6?
3.Is 137 divisible by 3?
4.Is 504 divisible by 6?
5.Is 918 divisible by 9?

GROUP ACTIVITY
Group
Activity

Put a check under the correct column which 3, 6
and 9 are factors applying the rules for divisibility.
Based on the table
which of the given
number has a
common factor of
3? 6? And 9?

SUMMARIZING
THE LESSON

Jenny Russell
Divisibility rules or divisibility tests are ways of
determining whether a whole number is divisible
by another whole number without doing actual
division. It is done by examining the digits of the
number.
A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits
is divisible by 3.
A number is divisible by 6 if it is divisible by both
2 and 3.
A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits
is divisible by 9.

A. Box the number if 3 is a factor.
1. 624
2. 962
3. 230
4. 456
5. 609
APPLICATION

B. Check on the space provided if 6 is a
factor of the given number.
1. 3 690 ________
2. 162 __________
3. 242________
4. 392 ___________
5. 378___________
APPLICATION

C. Circle all the numbers which 9 is a factor.
1. 842
2. 1 905
3. 3 009
4. 2 004
5. 609
APPLICATION

EVALUATION

Encircle the numbers which the given
number before each item is a common factor.
___3__1.) 54, 261, 346, 84
___9_2.) 657, 299, 846, 627
___6_3.) 342, 296, 357, 477
___3_4.) 843, 799, 312, 579
