B. Establishing a purpose for the
lesson
According to research,
only less than a quarter
of the Philippine population is into
Entrepreneurship
because Filipinos prefer a fixed inc
ome and a
simple, comfortable life.
However, running an
enterprise provides
unlimited income
opportunities and
more money than one
cannot have. Recent surveys
also reveal that more
Filipinos are now
thinking of having their
own businesses.  But, it
comes with many
challenges.  This
lesson will help one
understand what
Entrepreneurship is all
about.
With the advent of technology,
entrepreneurs and small
businesses alike have turned to
the internet and social media
platforms to survive the crises
brought on by the COVID-19
pandemic. Over time, online
selling and buying transactions
soared high as it improved client
service through greater flexibility
and cost savings and created
opportunities to manage business
from anywhere in the world.
What have you seen in the
market?
Identify what is in the picture
below.
C. Presenting examples/ instances
of the new lesson
Ask the class what comes into
their mind about
“Entrepreneurship”.
FAMOUS SUCCESSFUL FILIPINO
ENTREPRENEURS
TONY TANCAKTIONG
Jollibee foods corporation
An ideal entrepreneur desires to
establish a business that will be
able to produce simple products.
Starting your own business entails
serious hard work. This lesson will
discuss hints to help one decide
what type of business to get into.
It will also provide things to
remember and ideas when putting
up a business.
Let’s find out how to make a
polvoron.

Jollibee was formerly selling
Magnolia Ice Cream, then it was
recognized as selling chicken and
burgers. Tony Tan Caktiong, the
president and CEO of Jollibee, is a
name to remember, not only here
in the Philippines but also in other
parts of the world, like the USA,
Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, and
Japan. He had received several
awards in the business and the
like. According to Mr. Caktiong,
Jollibee's success is sharing what
they had achieved with people.
Jollibee had been known to be a
happy and hardworking insect
and now it is the favorite place to
dine for many Filipinos, especially
the kids.
D. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #1
Starting your own business entails
serious hard work. It involves,
among others, activities such as
research, planning, testing,
developing, marketing, and the
like.
A product is something that is
manufactured following a process,
to be sold for a profit. A service is
a facility supplying a public or
market need.
Or demand. Some examples are
hair salons offering hair care and
hairstyling services; bus
companies, offering transport
services; and spas and wellness
centers offering massage services,
skin care treatments, and the like.
There are two people or parties
involved in business transactions
such as selling and buying, the
seller and the buyer.
1. The Seller - owns or manages a
store or business establishment -
offers goods, products, or services
1. What do you think are the
secrets of their success in
entrepreneurship?
2. Why is it important to build a
business?
3. Do you wish to become like
them? Why or why not?
Entrepreneurship is an important
engine of growth in the economy.
It has brought success to some,
but it is not a career path for all.
Do you think you can handle the
stress and hard work that go with
running a small business
enterprise? The key to success in a
small business enterprise is your
entrepreneurial ability to produce
the desired results.
A product is something that is
manufactured following a process
or grown and nurtured to be sold
for a profit.
Service –a facility supplying a
public or market demand Here are
some steps to guide you in
producing your simple product:
▪ Design your product. Make a
sketch or describe it in words of
the product that you have in mind.
Make sure your product is
different from the others. Create
your own identity.
▪ Decide what materials to use.

to those who need it - must learn
the art of selling - must maintain
good relationships with people, be
patient, and courteous towards
the prospective consumers or
buyers. Sells products, goods, or
services at a specified amount
called selling price.
2. The Buyer - buys goods or
services from the seller - is also a
consumer who makes use of the
goods to meet his/her needs or
wants and those of his family - also
called the end user because they
use the good or product or service
to meet the needs and wants of
consumers and derive satisfaction
from it.
Use your creativity in selecting
materials for your product.
▪ Create the product. Create first
the initial version of the product.
▪ Evaluate the first version and
make necessary adjustments or
changes.
▪ Determine the price of your
product. Compute for the costs
incurred in making the product.
The sum of all the costs
determines the wholesale price of
your product.
▪ Advertise your product. Promote
your product either by using
printed materials, online, or during
programs or activities in school or
community where there are more
target customers.
(2 tbsp each like peanuts, cashew,
etc.)
6. Press the mold in the polvoron
mixture till you have filled up the
cavity, it is okay even if it is
overflowing a bit.
7. On a plate, press the mold to
make the mixture more compact.
8. Push the ejector handle to
release the molded polvoron, if it
is still sticking to the flat
metal plate, gently hold the sides
of the polvoron with your thumb
and forefinger
and move it a little bit, it will
release itself.
9. Use a cellophane wrapper to
wrap the molded polvoron.

to get into, it might be good to
start with a hobby or interest. It is
easier to work on something that
you are already passionate about.
You can produce something that
you can offer or sell to your
friends and schoolmates. School
fairs are a good opportunity to
sell. Among the products that are
always in demand are food items.
Start small before you think of
producing bigger quantities. One
has to practice his skills in food
preparation, cooking, and food
packaging. In addition, one also
has to observe safety practices in
handling, preparing, and serving
food items. Whatever you decide
on, you have to remember to
keep your costs down while
maintaining the quality of your

and find out where you can
source your materials and
supplies in items, and purchase
your ingredients in a store or
market that sells fresh produce.
Lastly, remember that the way a
product is presented to the
customer affects its stability.
Food items, in particular, must
not only be attractively packaged
but more importantly, they
should be protected from
contaminants and spoilage. Like
other expense items, packaging
must be of good quality but also
cost-effective.

G. Finding practical applications
of concepts and skills in daily
living
Have you ever dreamed of
becoming an entrepreneur?
Do you have what it takes to
become a successful
entrepreneur?
Do you know other entrepreneurs
from your town who became
successful? How did their business
start and how did they maintain
those?
If you have a business, how are
you going to promote it in the
market? Why?
Young boys and girls like you can
be potential entrepreneurs. Use
your creativity and
resourcefulness, as well as your
skill, to create simple products to
sell. To ensure that your
products will be sold, you need to
make a simple survey, whether in
your school or your
neighborhood to identify what
potential customers need. A
simple survey can be an interview
with some classmates in your
school if you intend to sell in
school or residents in the
neighborhood. Then look around
you to find out if what they need is
already available in the
neighborhood or the school. If it is
not yet available, or if it is
available but is not enough to
meet the demand, then decide on
whether to create the product
needed and what product it would
be.

H. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
The seller sells products, goods, or
services at a specified amount
called his selling price, while the
buyer is the person who buys
goods or services from the seller.
Goods and services must also be
appealing to be patronized by
potential buyers; offer something
new on every occasion such as
Christmas, Valentine's Day,
Graduation, Mother's Day,
Father's Day, Fiesta, Birthdays’ etc.
Innovate existing goods and

interesting and develop customer
loyalty.
