RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE ACCREDITATION OF
WELLNESS TOURISM ENTERPRISES
WHEREAS, pursuantto Section 5 of Republic Act (R.A) No. 9569 or the Tourism Acto 2009,
the Department of Tourism (DOT) is the primary planning, programming, coorcnating.
implementing and regulatory government agency a the development and promotion of the
tourism incusty, both domestic and intematicnal,ín coordination win altached agencies and

WHEREAS, Section 6 (of R.A, No. 9598 authorizes the DOT, In consuitaton wth tho LGUs,
the private sector industries and ober toursm stakeholders 10 formulate and promulgate,
rules and reguatons goveraing the operation and acts of altourem enterprises, nluding
but not limited to a national standard for Iconaing, acerdtaion and classification of tours
enterprises, preseabing therein minimum levels of operating qualty and efelancy for thar
‘operation in accordance wih recognized international standards impose reasonable penalties

tourism and leveraging the Filino brand of welness to promote the Phippines as a premier

WHEREAS, Wellness Tourism is considered as a high-value tourism product worthy of

that enhances the compattivenoss of In Phllppines as a destination improves the overall

|. GENERAL PROVISIONS.
Section. Short Title. This Circular shall be known as the “Rules and Reguations
Governing the Accreditation of Wellness Tourism Entorprises

Section 2. Definition of Terms. For purposes of this Circular, the folowing toma are
hereby defined as follows:

Protection (BFP), TESDA, Local Disaster Risk Reducton Management Councils

Section 3. Scope and Coverage. This Cicular shall cover all new applications for
‘accrediation and reneval of accreditation of Wellnoss Tourism Enterprises in th Philippines
Section 4. Categories of Wellness Tourism Enterprises. For purposes of accrectaton,

HotelfResort-Based Wellness Tourism Enterprise shal refer toa wellness
enterprise located in a hotel o resort providing various wellass servicos
Destination Wellness Tourism Enterprise shall refer to a wellness
enterprise that provides a hole wellness experience, with accommodation
and offers a wide range of wellness programs, body treatments, and healthy
|. MINIMUM AND SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ACCREDITATION OF
WELLNESS TOURISM ENTERPRISES

Section 8. Evaluation of Supporting Documents. The assigned DOT aceractaon lfcer

for ocular inspection.
Section 9. Ocular Inspection. À team from the DOT shall conduct inspection of the tourism
enterprise applying for accredtation to determine ‘conformance. wih ho. minimum
requremenis set by the DOT. The inspoction of the proporty anal be card out in the
presence of the wellness tourism entorpise’s authorized represonisiwos
Section 10. Inspection Findings. Al fndngs or rosuls and recommendations of the
inspection team shal be noted in tho Inspection Checklist and discussed withthe authorizes

Section 11. Issuance of Certificate of Accreditation. Applcents which have eaisfaconty
‘complied with the minimum standards and the preserbed documentar requirements for
accredaion of tourism enterpisas shall ba issued a Cericate of Action and Sicker
upon approval of the appicaon and payment of corresponding accrediation foo,
Section 12. Valldty of Accreditation. The accreditation of wellness tourism enterprises
shall be vald fortwo (2) years commencing from the date of the issuance of the DOT
Certliate of Accredtalon, and shal be renowable unless suspended, canalled or evoked,
Section 13. Non-ransforabilty of Accreditation. Accradtaton, including the righls and
privileges associated whl are non-transtorable,
IV, FEES AND CHARGES
Section 14. Accreditation Fee. The folowing non-efundable accrediation fee shall be

Section 15. DOT Sticker. DOT stickers shall be issued to DOT-aceredteo tourism
enterprisss upon payment of Three Hundred Pesos (300.00) In case of lost or damaged

and a duy notarzed Alfa of Loss, and payment of Tires Hundred Pesos (P3000).
Section 16. Lost or Damaged Certificate. An amount of Three Hundred Pesos (P200.00)
shall be collected for an authenticated copy of Aceroiaion Certicale, upon submission of
Letter Request and a duly notarized Aide of Loss
Section 17. Change of Registration Detalls Fee. An amount of Five Hundred Pesos
(PS00.00) shall bo charged to an accredited Welness Tourism Enterprise requesting to

Section 21. DOT Access to Racords. The Department shall be granted access to the
wellness tourism enterprise's records solely forthe purpose of veriying complance wih

Vi. DENIAL, CANCELLATION, SUSPENSION, OR REVOCATION
OF ACCREDITATION,
Section 22. Grounds for Denial of Applications for Accreditation. The DOT may deny the

Section 24. Notice to Explain. The Department shall issue a Notice to Explain to a
tourism enterprise that violated the trms of ts acerectaon

Cancellation of DOT Accreditation shal be immeciately exccutory on he date of receipt by
the wellness tourism enterprise ofthe Notice of Decision. Any appeal shal Be subject to the
