DOWN SYNDROME GROUP 3

What is Down Syndrome? Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra chromosome. Instead of having two copies of chromosome 21, people with Down syndrome have three copies, which can affect their physical and intellectual development. The symptoms of Down syndrome vary from person to person, but may include intellectual disability, delayed development, characteristic facial features, and increased risk for certain health conditions. Despite these challenges, many people with Down syndrome lead happy and fulfilling lives, and with appropriate support, can achieve their full potential.

reason on why they have down syndrome in scientific way Down syndrome occurs when there is an extra copy of chromosome 21 in a person's cells. This can happen randomly during the formation of reproductive cells or early fetal development. The extra genetic material affects the way the body and brain develop, leading to physical and intellectual differences. While the exact cause of this chromosomal abnormality is not fully understood, ongoing research is helping us learn more about the underlying mechanisms.

signs of having down syndrome Individuals with Down syndrome may have certain physical characteristics that are common among those with the condition. These can include a small head, upward slanting eyes, a flat nasal bridge, and a small mouth with a protruding tongue. They may also have poor muscle tone and be slower to reach developmental milestones such as sitting up or walking. In addition to these physical signs, individuals with Down syndrome may also experience intellectual disabilities, speech delays, and other health issues such as heart defects and vision problems. However, it's important to remember that each person with Down syndrome is unique and may not exhibit all of these signs or symptoms.

EXAMPLE PICS

3 TYPES OF DOWN SYNDROME TRISOMY 21- Trisomy 21 means there’s an extra copy of chromosome 21 in every cell. This is the most common form of Down syndrome. Mosaicism - It occurs when a child is born with an extra chromosome in some but not all of their cells. People with mosaic Down syndrome tend to have fewer symptoms than those with trisomy 21. Translocation - In this type of Down syndrome, children have only an extra part of chromosome 21. There are 46 total chromosomes. However, one of them has an extra piece of chromosome 21 attached.

THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TREATMENT FOR THIS SYNDROME,BUT THERE IS A WIDE RANGE OF PHYSICAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL THERAPIES DESIGNED TO HELP PEOPLE WITH THIS SYNDROME ON REACHING THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.THE EARLIER YOU START THEM,THE BETTER.
