Glaucoma
▪Glaucoma is an eye disease caused by damage to
the optic nerve that results in gradual loss of
vision, possibly advancing to blindness
▪Glaucoma is caused by high levels of pressure
inside the eye (IOP).
▪Glaucoma can be divided roughly into two main
categories,
▪ “open angle” or chronic Glaucoma and
▪ “closed angle” or acute glaucoma

Types of Glaucoma

Anti Glaucoma Medication
▪Prostaglandin analogs.
▪Autonomic drugs, including beta-adrenergic blockers, nonselective sympathomimetics,
alpha2-adrenergic agonists, and cholinergic agonists.
▪Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
▪Osmotic diuretics
