Duties and responsibilities as Quality Assurance Officer
Coordinate internal academic programme reviews
Coordinate centres , institutes, research and community engagement reviews.
Assist in campus, academic support and projects reviews
Assist in internal and external audit reviews
Support and advise faculties with programme requirements as per DHET, CHE and SAQA
promoting capacity building and promoting quality improvement.
Advise programme coordinators on processes and procedures to apply for new
programmes/qualifications/modules/recurriculation
Update the uploaded programme information in the HEQSF Online programme.
Dissemination of information regarding quality standards to stakeholders.
Communicate reminders to faculties on deferred programmes.
Participate in impact studies.
Apply online for different categories of programmes as per CHE accreditation.
Maintain the institutions PQM for stakeholders consumptions.
Maintenance of the database for short courses/continuous education
Advise faculties with short courses that are due for renewal
Coordinate students tracking system for five faculties.
Advise stakeholders as to when and how to review the policies regarding quality issues.
Support and advise faculties/departments/units during external review of academic
programmes or realignment deadlines.
Advise faculties on compliance to policy implementation.
Monitoring and evaluating policy implementation on research, teaching and learning and
community engagement.
Generation and maintenance of all documents for quality assurance related issues like
clearance Certificates, module application forms, DHET application for new
programme/qualifications, CHE application form for accreditation of new
programme/qualification and SAQA registration of accredited qualification.
Monitoring and evaluation of the quality standards as specified in the Higher Education
Qualifications Sub-Framework.
Conducting information sessions and workshops to all stakeholders on quality management
processes and procedures.
Represent the unit in quality assurance meetings for five faculties.
Compile reports on quality related issues raised in these meetings for further attention of the
institutional Committee.
Assist students with assessment on quality related matters.
Maintenance of the unit’s records for stakeholders future references.
