Slide Content

TIRVONEMNEN E verything that is around us, which includes both living and non-living things such as soil, water, animals and plants, which adapt themselves to their surroundings.

ENVIRONMENT

ENONSORICATV S eeks the sustainable use of nature by humans, for activities such as hunting, logging, or mining, while preservation means protecting nature from human use.

CONSERVATION

E M EOYSTSC Is a community of plants, animals and microorganisms interacting with the physical environment and are interdependent on one another for survival.

ECOSYSTEM

INTERACTIONS IN THE ENVIRONMENT

ECOSYSTEM Is a community of plants, animals, and microorganisms interacting with the physical environment and are interdependent on one another for survival. It is also defined as any stable environment in which living and non-living things interact with one another. COMPONENTS OF AN ECOSYSTEM Biotic factors – living components of an ecosystem, such as plants, animals, and bacteria. Abiotic factors – nonliving/physical and chemical components of an ecosystem, water, soil and rocks .

TWO TYPES OF ECOLOGICAL SYSTEM Natural Ecosystem – the result of interactions between organisms and the environment, Includes lakes, forests, grasslands, and coral reefs. TROPICAL EVERGREEN RAINFOREST MOSSY FOREST

TWO TYPES OF ECOLOGICAL SYSTEM ARTIFICIAL OR MAN-MADE ECOSYSTEM – human-made structures where biotic and abiotic components are made to interact with each other for survival, includes an aquarium, an orchard, or rice field AQUARIUM RICE FIELD

Waste Disposal Conservation of soil, forest, and wildlife resources. Conservation of water and air. THREE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES RELEVANT TO THE COMMUNITY

WAYS TO CONSERVE FOREST

REFORESTATION The reestablishment of trees on denuded forest land by natural means or by planting or seeding.

SELECTIVE LOGGING The cutting of only a select number of trees in a stand, usually old-growth and defective trees, instead of he whole stand.

WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTERS AND ANIMAL SANCTUARIES Are set to protect wildlife habitats.

WAYS OF SOIL CONSERVATION

TERRACING Form flat beds for farming purposes. This prevents or slow down water run-off.

CONTOUR PLOWING This is done to slow down water and soil run-offs.

COVER CROPPING Green manure are generally easy to grow and are planted for the purpose of improving the fertility of the soil and minimize pests, diseases and weeds.

CROP ROTATION It improve overall long term productivity of the land.

WIND BREAKING This is to shield the crops from strong winds hence prevent soil erosion and damage to plants.

STRIP CROPPING Agricultural practice of planting crops in long narrow fields perpendicular to the prevailing winds.

CONSERVING AIR AND WATER

THE PHILIPPINE CLEAN AIR ACT OF 1999 OR REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8749 Ensure the rights of people to a balanced and healthy ecology Protect Global environment at large Recognize the primary responsibility of local government units to deal with environmental problems. Promote the responsibility of cleaning one’s immediate environment first. Recognize that penalties are imposed n polluters.

THE PHILIPPINE CLEAN WATER ACT OF 12004 OR REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9275 Aims to protect our bodies of water. Provides for a comprehensive strategy to prevent and minimize pollution. Prohibits discharging or depositing any water pollutant to bodies of water or anything that will stop the natural flow in these bodies of water. Prohibits dumping of pollutants to groundwater Prohibits disposal of infectious medical wastes into sea.
