Power station
A Power station is a
industrial facility for the
generation of electric
power.
Power or energy is
generated in a power
plant which is the place
where power is
generated from a given
source.

 Types of power stations
Coal based power
station
Nuclear power station
Geothermal power
station
Thermal Power station
Hydro-Electric Power
station
Solar power station

Location of Rampal power station
•The Rampal Power
Station is situated
in Rampal Upazila
of Bagerhat
district in Khulna
Bangladesh. It will
be the biggest
power sation in our
country.

  Purpose of the Project
•To prevent the electricity problem of our
country is the main objective to build up Rampal
power station.
•Rampal project is one of the best coal-based
plants the Government has decided to build
across the country to meet the growing
electricity demand.

Negative impact on Environment
Construction of Power Plant at Rampal the
ecosystem will be largely affected due to traffic
movements, oil and chemical spillage and
dredging.
The project will use deep tube wells and water of
the Posur River for washing coal, which will push
ground level water down and will completely
destroy the ecosystem of the river.

8 to 16 ships will
operate per week
through rivers on
the Sundarbans

River dredging will
generate 33 million
tonnes of spoil a
year.

Dumping of dredge
spoil will affect
Dolphins, Fish and
water birds.

Dredging noise and
night-time lighting
will disturb aquatic
wildlife.

Government has not
made adequate plans
to mitigate the
threats.

According to the (WHC)
•The sundarbons mangrove forest is the habitat
of a wide rage of flora; 334 Flora species and
693 fauna species.
•315 species of waterfowl, raptors and nine
species of kingfisher and the magnificent white
bellied sea eagle. The are is habitat or the Royal
Bengal tiger and other threatened species, such
as the Indian python.
•If Rampal power station came into reality these
species will die or go away.

Biodiversity of Sundarban
The forest has a unique
biota comprising:
334 species of plants
49 species of mammals
400 species of Fish
320 species of birds
53 species of reptiles
11 amphibian species
The Home of famous Royal
Bengal Tiger

About 30000 beautiful spotted
deer live in sundarban
At least 37 species of ‘obligate’
mangrove plants, 127 species of
euryhalinefish, a total of 1287
animal species comprising 873
invertebrates, 1 species of
Hemichordate, and 413 species
of vertebrates.
450 rivers including Boleshawr,
Raymongol and posur

We will get light
by Killing & push
away our pride
sundarban’s
Natural beauty
& precious
animals

Resolve
Rampal power plant
should be stopped
due to the
dangerous
ecological effect of
it.
Govt. should find
out another
alternative way &
save Sundarbons by
stopping this
project

Thank You
Saddam Hossain
