explanation about eid ul adha

Slide Content

Eid Al Adha is one of
the most important
celebrations in Islam.
It is a time of joy and
giving to family, friends
and needy people.
Muslims also celebrate
the sacrifice of Ibrahim
(as) and his devotion
to Allah.

Eid Al Adha takes place on the 10th day of
Dhul-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic
lunar calendar. It is usually celebrated for
3 days by Muslims around the world.

A long time ago, there was a very good man and Prophet named
Ibrahim (as). He loved Allah a lot and always tried to do what was
right. Allah loved Ibrahim (as) too, because he was so good and
faithful. One night, Prophet Ibrahim (as) had a dream. In this
dream, Allah asked him to do a very hard thing. Allah asked him to
sacrifice his son, Ismail (as).
Now, this was a really big thing to ask. Ismail (as) was very dear
to Ibrahim (as), just like how your family is very dear to you.

But Ibrahim (as) trusted Allah. He knew
that Allah would never ask him to do
something unless it was for a good reason.
So, he decided to do what Allah had asked
him to do.
When he told his son, Ismail (as), about the
dream, Ismail (as) also trusted his father
and Allah. “Oh my father,” Ismail (as) told
Ibrahim (as), “Do that which you have been
commanded, Insha’Allah you shall find me
among the patient ones.” (37:102)

So, they went up to a mountain, and Ibrahim (as) prepared to
sacrifice his son. But just as he was about to do it, something
amazing happened. A big sheep appeared out of nowhere!
Allah spoke to Ibrahim (as) and told him that he didn't have to
sacrifice Ismail (as). Allah was just testing Ibrahim (as) to see if he
was willing to do even the hardest thing if Allah asked him to. And
because Ibrahim (as) had shown that he was willing to do so, Allah
replaced Ismail (as) with a sheep.

That's why, every year during Eid al-
Adha, Muslims remember this story of
Ibrahim (as)'s trust and love for Allah.
They sacrifice an animal, like a sheep or
a goat, and share the meat with others,
especially those who are needy and
don't have a lot to eat.
The story of Ibrahim (as) and Ismail (as)
teaches us about love, trust, and the
willingness to sacrifice for the sake of
Allah.

One of the most important days during the Hajj is the Day of
Arafah, when pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafah to pray. The
day after the Day of Arafah is the first day of Eid al-Adha!
That's right, they're back-to-back.
But there's more! Remember the story of Ibrahim and Ismail? One
of the steps of Hajj is to remember that story too. Pilgrims
throw small stones at pillars that represent the temptations
faced by Ibrahim (as). This event is called "Ramy al-Jamarat".

During Eid al-Adha, Muslims who are able to do so, copy the
act of sacrifice as a reminder of Prophet Ibrahim's obedience.
The animals that can be used for Qurbani are usually goats,
sheep, cows or camels.
The meat from the sacrificed animal is usually divided into
three parts. One third is kept by the person who made the
sacrifice; one third is given to relatives, friends and
neighbours; and one third is given to the poor and needy.

Performing the Eid Prayer
Eating After Eid Prayer
Reciting the Takbir
Offering Qurbani
Being Generous and Charitable

Eid ul-Adha is not just about
celebrating, but also about remembering
Prophet Ibrahim's (as) devotion to Allah
and being willing to make sacrifices.
It's a time for Muslims to reflect on
what they can do to be better people
and better believers.
