Adjective

POSIONS IN ADJECTIVE IN
SENTENCE
On the basis of position of
adjectives we can classify them as:

Attributive adjective
Predicative adjective
Postpositive adjective

Attributive Adjective: In this
position, adjectives are placed
before the noun they modify. For
example:
• A red car
•A beautiful flower
•An intelligent student

Predicative adjective: In this
position, adjectives are placed after
a linking verb (such as “be,” “seem,”
“appear,” etc.) and modify the
subject of the sentence. For
example:
•The car is red
•The flower looks beautiful
•The student seems intelligent

Postpositive Adjective: Some
adjectives are used only after the
noun they modify. This is more
common in formal or poetic
language. For example:
•The attorney General
•The president elect
•The heir apparent
