Emergency Handling Procedures for Linear Accelerator A. Treatment Beam Failing to Turn Off: Press Beam off button, turn key to disable. If beam persists, press emergency button. Remove patient from treatment couch. Notify RSO . Do not use until inspected by a service engineer. B. Treatment Couch Fails to Lower: Press nearest emergency button. Press float button; move couch away from gantry. Press Down and Motion enable buttons. If not working, move toggle switch to EMOPS position (right side). Use emergency pendant for external power. If still not working, use manual lowering tool. Notify RSO & Do not operate, until inspected.

Emergency Handling Procedures for Linear Accelerator C. Power Failure: Remove patient from couch. Record cumulative Monitor units on the control console. Do not operate until power recovery procedure is followed. D. Fire : Press nearest emergency button. Remove patient. Activate FIRE ALARM , evacuate. Notify security . Extinguish fire if possible (no water). Record Monitor units if treatment interrupted. Do not operate, until inspected.

F. Accidental Radiation Exposure: Notify RSO and relevant authorities. Request an investigation by qualified personnel. Consult medical experts for treatment.

Emergency Handling Procedures for TeleCobalt Unit A. Unwanted Unit Motion : Press EMERGENCY STOP button. Remove patient from the room. Discontinue use of unit Notify RSO . B. Source Stuck: Stay calm, press Emergency button. Close collimators to 0x0 field size. Wear TLD badge , Pocket dosimeter and carry a survey meter. Rotate gantry/table to remove the patient from the beam. Remove patient , use T-rod to push source to OFF. One person tracks the time; Notify RSO . Close the room, post " No Entry " sign.

Emergency Handling Procedures for TeleCobalt Unit C. Fire: Remove patient. Activate FIRE ALARM , turn off control console. Disconnect AC power if possible, use fire extinguisher (no water). Notify RSO . D. Power Failure: Ensure the source returns to home position. Remove patient, turn off control console. Notify RSO .
