5 So What is E I ? The ability to recognize your emotions, understand what they mean, and how they affect others. A variety of noncognitive abilities, capabilities, and skills that influence one’s ability to succeed and cope with demands, pressures, and change (Jaeger, 2003; Bar-On, 1997a, p.3).

E I & Education I n a study conducted by Jaeger (2003), she found a strong relationship between emotional intelligence and academic performance. Emotions are organized responses that trigger cognitive activities and direct actions (Jaeger, 2003; Salovey and Mayer, 1990). EQ can influence a fixed and growth mindset.
