Extinct species `` According to the scientest , a number of plant species earlier recorded from specific habitats were no longer found. The list of such plant species include Asparagus gharoensis (Sindh), Scaveola plumererii (Sindh coast), Scaveola taccada (Sindh coast), Allium gilgiticum ( Gilgit ), Arabidopsis brevicaulis ( Hunza valley), Saxifraga duthei ( Baltistan ), Cousinia matifeldei ( Chitral ), Taraxacum chitralicum ( Chitral ), Pedicularis caeruleoalbescens ( Chitral ), Nepeta schinidii ( Chitral ), Bruguiera gymnorrhiza (Indus delta) and Sonneratia caseolaris (Indus delta ).

4. Protecting endangered plants A number of plant species in the country have become extinct while many more are on the verge of extinction and the situation demands that the government take immediate measures to conserve plants on scientific lines. “

5. Scientist Observation There is a coast and, at the same time we have some of the highest mountains and the largest glaciers in the world. This is unique So far, we have just explored 0.89 per cent of the total 5,700 species while 7.6 per cent (405) species are endemic belonging to 43 families. Around 700 plant species are endangered,”

7. About Conservation According to topography and sub-tropical climate provide a wide range of habitats to support a rich variety of flora and fauna. Scenically, it has a great deal to offer- a landscape rising from sandy beaches and rocky foreshores to a height of almost 1,000-metre high, woodlands and hilly areas covered by open grassland and a variety of scenic vistas rarely matched in such a small place. In Hong Kong, there are more than 3,300 species of vascular plants, of which about 2,100 are native; some 50 species of mammals; over 500 species of birds; about 80 species of reptiles and more than 20 amphibian species. Insect diversity is also very high with more than 230 species of butterflies and about 120 species of dragonflies.

The objectives of conservation work: To conserve local flora, fauna and natural habitats through offering conservation advice on development proposals, planning strategies and environmental impact assessment; law enforcement; research and implementing biodiversity conservation plans; and identifying Sites of Special Scientific Interest conduct regular ecological surveys to take inventory and update the status of our biodiversity assets and to establish an ecological database for COUNTRY; To conserve endangered species of animals and plants through controlling their international trade To promote public awareness and participation in nature conservation through publicity and educational activities.

9. Conservation policy of Endangered Species The first federal policy for the protection of endangered species was the Endangered Species Preservation Act, passed in 1966. This act was replaced in 1969 with the Endangered Species Conservation Act, which acted to strengthen the legislation. Finally, in 1973, the Endangered Species Act was passed. This act was recently reauthorized .
