WHAT ARE THE
DIFFERENCES?
I have a beautiful cat at home. Its
name is Sally. My uncle gave it to me
when I celebrated my 13th birthday.
Sally is a persian cat with soft white
fur and red eyes. Sally likes playing
ball very much. Sally is an adorable
cat with silly behaviors. She has such
a soft voice. She is polite and nice to
everyone who pets her.
Cat is one of the most popular pets in the world.
There are over six hundred million domestic cats in
the world. Cat spend their time to sleep for about
13 hours a day. Cats are a mammal and carnivore.
Cats have amazing senses among the animals in the
world. They have exceptional smell, sight, and taste.
They also have flexible bodies and sharp teeth that
help them to catch their prey. Cats also have
incredible night vision six times better than human.

DIFFERENCES?

Report text is a text which presents information about something, as it is.
It is as a result of systematic observation and analysis. To presents
information about something, as it is.
REPORT TEXT
Report means a text which describes things in general. It’s a little bit
different from descriptive text which describe specific thing.

What’s set report and
descriptive text apart?
Descriptive texts concentrate on depicting a specific subject in
detail, while report texts provide a broader perspective on a
general topic.
For example, a descriptive text might discuss “My Favorite Park,”
exploring the park’s unique features, such as its size, the variety
of plants and trees, available facilities, and so on.
In contrast, a report text on “Parks” would offer a more general
understanding of parks, discussing elements like their purpose,
common facilities, benefits for the community, and types of parks
that exist.

THE STRUCTURE
GENERAL
CLASSIFICATION
Introduces the subject and provides an
overall classification or categorization.
It sets the context for the readers,
allowing them to understand the
broader topic that will be discussed.
DESCRIPTION
Offers more detailed information about
the subject, covering its features,
characteristics, functions, or any other
relevant aspects. This part aims to give
readers a comprehensive understanding
of the topic by presenting various
aspects or subtopics related to the
general subject.

LANGUAGE FEATURES
USING GENERAL NOUNS
Example: General nouns refer to words that
denote a group or class of things, instead of a
singular instance or individual item. For instance,
when discussing transportation, a report text
might utilize general nouns like “cars,” “trains,”
or “bicycles” to encompass the various modes of
transport available.
Connect the main subject of a sentence with
additional details about it.
Some common linking verbs include “be” (am, is,
are, was, were), “seem,” “appear,” “become,”
“feel,” “look,” “sound,” and “taste.”
Most report texts use the present tense to
convey factual, relevant information
