“Are you familiar with the pictures below?”
Irony- involves a contrast between what is said and what is meant or expected. hyperbole- is the use of exaggerated statements for emphasis or effect.
Identify whether the statement is a hyperbole or Irony. 1. You are so sexy, you look like a washing machine. 2. I’m so thirsty, I could drink a drum of water. 3. I have a bunch of plates waiting for me. 4. I would die if you leave me.
The teacher will present a short poem and the students will identify the figure of speech used.
