purposes of reading; prosodic features that serve as
carriers of meaning; ways by which information may be
organized, related, and delivered orally; and parallel
structures and cohesive devices in presenting
information.
The learner transfers learning by composing and
delivering an informative speech based on a specific topic
of interest keeping in mind the proper and
effective use of parallel structures and cohesive devices
and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.
The learner utilizes African literature as a
transformative lens, fostering an appreciation that
extends beyond the written word cultivating an
understanding that goes beyond academic study to
shape a respectful and empathetic worldview.

1.Read the short text and guess the meaning of the italicized invented word.
1.Find a partner and discuss the possible meaning of the word by finding clues within the text.
OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A.identify the different types of context clues;
B.use context clues from the material viewed to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words or expressions; and
C.explain the importance of context clues in understanding texts that reflect local culture.
APPLICATION Group Activity (One World, One Africa)
Directions:
1.The class would be divided into three groups.
2.Each group would be given different reading material.
3.Each text talks about the cultural practices and traditions of a specific African country.
4.Identify and understand the meaning of the underlined words using context clues.
5.Identify and discuss cultural practices, traditions, or any unique aspects mentioned.
6.Each group would be given 10 minutes to accomplish their task and 5 minutes to present their work.
GENERALIZATION The students would be asked to explain the importance of context clues in understanding texts that reflect local culture and in engaging to
everyday conversation.

OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A.recognize and distinguish fragments from complete sentences;
B.identify different sentence B. Write sentences based on fragments; and
C.determine the importance of differentiating a fragment from a complete sentence.
LESSON PROPER Discussion:
If a group of words does not contain either a subject or a predicate, or if the thought is not complete; it is called a fragment.
Observe the following set of words:
How do we identify fragments?
missing verb
Example: Modules for distance learning
missing subject
Example: Submitted the performance task on time
missing subject & verb
Example: Despite the challenges in distance learning
Sentence on the other hand has a complete thought. It is properly punctuated at the end.
Examples: The modules for distance learning were sent to me last week.
Karen and Joe submitted the performance task on time.
Three Ways to Turn a Fragment into a Complete Sentence
1. Attach. Attach the fragment to a nearby complete sentence.
2. Revise. Revise the fragment by adding whatever is missing – subject or verb.
3. Rewrite. Rewrite the fragment or the entire passage that contains the fragment.
