What is an Interjection? - a word that expresses feeling or emotion and functions independently of a sentence It can express variety of feelings, such as joy, fear, anger, surprise, exhaustion, dismay, or sorrow It helps the author set the tone of the sentence

What is an Interjection? - It never has grammatical connection to other words in a sentence It can stand on its own

Interjections that show emotion: Wow! Bravo! Ouch! Oh, no! Hooray

Interjections used as greetings: Hello! Yoo hoo ! Hey! Hi! Bye!

Interjections show agreement/disagreement: Sure! Yeah! Okay! Nope! No!

Interjections that are just sounds: Ugh! Yuck! Aww ! Grrrr ! Phew!

Punctuation Marks used Exclamation point ( ! ) – When it stresses strong feeling or emotion such as surprised, angry, excited, frightened and etc. Comma ( ,) – When the emotion or feelings are not as strong such sad
