AFFIXATION The process of making new words by adding affixes to a word Affixes include prefixes and suffixes Types of Affixation

PREFIXATION Adding a prefix at the beginning of a word to form a new word Rarely changing the parts of speech of a word Example: Write  rewrite; smoker  non-smoker S ometimes used to form new verb: Example: circle  encircle; large  enlarge.
