This document lists a number of Fellowships schemes which may be suitable for early career researchers in the Faculties of Science and Engineering at the University of
Nottingham. The eligibility criteria differ for each scheme and you should check the requirements of each funder before commencing on an application. This list is not
exhaustive and other schemes do exist. Clinical Research Fellowships are not included here.

The scope is more wide ranging than for most Fellowships, including all
disciplines (and interdisciplinary), research and/or innovation, and
movement between sectors.
Applications from individuals currently working at non-UK institutions or in
industry are encouraged.
These Fellowships support applicants from diverse career paths, including
those returning from a career break or following time in other roles. We
also encourage applications from those wishing to work part-time in order
to combine the fellowship with personal responsibilities.

Applications are invited from people working in any sector or scientific discipline
who proposes to undertake people or patient based clinical and applied health
research, including social care research, at an institution based in England.
The proposal must have clear potential for benefitting patients and the public within
5 years of its completion.
The Doctoral Fellowship is for people who wish to undertake a PhD. They should
propose an individual PhD project and be expected to become independent
research leaders within 6 to 10 years of completing PhD.
The Transitional Research Fellowship is for people from any scientific discipline or
sector to make a transition from basic or experimental science research to an area
within NIHR remit.
