Essay Of Health
Crafting an essay on the broad theme of health poses a multifaceted challenge that extends
beyond the realms of mere writing. The difficulty lies not only in navigating through a vast
ocean of information but also in distilling it into a coherent and insightful narrative. Health, as a
topic, encompasses a myriad of subtopics, from physical well-being to mental health, preventive
measures to treatment modalities, and societal perspectives to individual experiences.
The complexity intensifies as one grapples with the need to strike a balance between scientific
accuracy and accessibility to a diverse audience. Synthesizing information from various sources
while maintaining a cohesive flow demands a nuanced understanding of the subject matter.
Moreover, addressing the dynamic nature of health, influenced by evolving research,
technological advancements, and societal changes, adds an additional layer of intricacy.
Beyond the technicalities, an essay on health requires a compassionate touch, as it involves
discussing deeply personal and often sensitive aspects of human life. Balancing the informative
tone with empathy and sensitivity is a delicate task, as health is not just a scientific phenomenon
but a deeply human experience.
Researching, outlining, and finally, articulating these thoughts into a structured and compelling
essay can be an arduous journey. It demands not only a comprehensive understanding of the
topic but also the ability to communicate complex ideas in a way that resonates with a diverse
audience.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the multifaceted concept of health is undoubtedly challenging.
It involves navigating a vast sea of information, maintaining a delicate balance between
technical accuracy and human connection, and addressing the ever-evolving nature of the subject
matter. It is a task that requires not only writing prowess but also a deep understanding of the
complexities inherent in the concept of health.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this challenging terrain, there are resources available.

Roman Concrete Construction
Spanning across three continents, the Roman Empire took on several massive
building projects that dominated the landscape and left behind important marks in
history. The building industry in Rome was larger in scale and more organized than
anything before it. First of the two would have to be the new building material of the
time called concrete. Roman concrete (opus caementicium), was developed early in
the 2nd c. BCE and this material was a large part of the advancement of Roman
architecture, because of the strength that it added to structures while also being
lighter weight than other forms of concrete (Anderson, n.d.). Next, the use of the arc
proved to ad to the structural integrity of these buildings and other architectural forms.

It can be seen that the challenging construction marvels of Rome depended on a
certain level of organization and order. Furthermore, the advancement in city planning
and construction technology that took place during that time has clearly influenced
architecture around the word. Rome left an incredible legacy that has formed the
basis for construction and engineering today, because of the way the way Roman
architecture displayed use of ...discovery, experimentation and exploitation of

Essay On Old South Medicine
Medicine and Diseases Diseases in the late 1800s were on the rise, however, doctors
and doctoral schools were not. Since there were very few physicians in this time,
black and white men and women were often left to treat illnesses, bring new life into
the world, and handle medical emergencies (Plantation Medicineand HealthCare in
the Old South). People relied on self help manuals a lot of the time to hopefully give
them the insight they needed for the specific disease or illnessthey had or were
treating. This was not very effective because the people with the diseases were not
getting proper care and there was a lack of sanitary facilities that could be used. The
Old South only had 5 medical schools by 1845, and medical students only studied
for one to two years on their medical training (Plantation Medicine and Health Care
in the Old South). Because of the lack of physicians, there were more patients in the...

To protect against diseases West African slaves wore necklaces of wild liquorice
seeds and captains used native roots to treat fevers that could wipe out their human
cargo (Slave Medicine). Many physicians and ordinary people would use prayer
and herbs as a way to treat the patient. They thought that healing plants were a gift
from god, so they would pray to him as a thanks for the remedy. Slaves used many
of the plants used by the community of their white owners: snakeroot, mayapple, red
pepper, boneset, pine needles, comfrey, and red oak bark, to name a few (Slave
Medicine). Being that there were almost no doctors or physicians, the wounded
needed people to find other things that could potentially work, they used so much
more than what is listed. Medical conditions such as tuberculosis, diphtheria,
whooping cough, yellow fever, malaria, worms, yaws (an infection of the skin,
bones, and joints), and cholera were all diseases that they had at this

Theme Of Sexism In A Mercy
Injustice, particularly sexism, is a major issue today, but surprising or not, it has
been worse in the past. In the 1600s, when the novel A Mercy takes place, sexism
(with unrealized consequences) is present everywhere, yet it can go unseen and be
hidden by the organized way of life if the reader does not pay attention, especially
because it is so normalized. Although society in A Mercy appears to be orderly, the
mistreatment and devaluation of women is a major issue that causes the female
characters to constantly rely on the men in their lives, which negatively affects all of
society as it pushes women further from the opportunity for a better life. Women are
devalued and clearly mistreated as they are looked down upon by society and... Show

Only objects can be viewed in terms of value, not humans. Lastly, women are legally
abused and mistreated as a part of the mainstream culture. In Rebekka s chapter,
Morrison writes, Wife beating was common, she knew, but the restrictions not after
nine at night, with cause and not anger were for wives and only wives (111).
According to society s views, a wife is a man s property. Also, men are the ones
implementing the rules so there is probably no punishment if one of those rules is
broken. Therefore, men can do whatever they want to their wives and get away with
it which thoroughly demonstrates the brutal mistreatment women experience during
this time. Throughout A Mercy, women are constantly being taken advantage of by
men which is completely unacceptable. Women s life experiences along with
societal expectations cause them to rely on men and have men be involved in every
aspect of their lives which prohibits individuality and also potentially compromises
women s safety. Firstly, Rebekka, who is a woman, will not be able to take care of the
farm all by herself. Willard explains that Rebekka will marry again... soon and
when Scully asks, Why soon? , he replies, She s a woman. How else keep the
farm? (171). There is no doubt in Willard s mind that Rebekka will be forced to find
another husband quickly if she wants to keep the property. While some people could
argue this is a sexist comment, it reveals to the reader that the

Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen Essay
Lies My Teacher Told Me by James W. Loewen High school history textbooks are
seen, by students, as presenting the last word on American History. Rarely, if ever, do
they question what their text tells them about our collective past. According to James
W. Loewen s Lies My Teacher Told Me, they should be. Loewen has spent
considerable time and effort reviewing history texts that were written for high school
students. In Lies, he has reviewed twenty texts and has compared them to the actual
history. Sadly, not one text measures up to the author s expectation of teaching
students to think. What is worse, though, is that students come away from their
classes without having developed the ability to think coherently about social... Show

According to Loewen they got his name right, and not much else. Lies points out
that there were many groups of explorers that had discovered America before
Columbus. He probably used some of their information as a basis for his plans to
sail west. A full eight pages are devoted to other possible explorers. These groups
include ancient groups from Indonesia, Japan, China, and Phoenicia. More recent
groups include the Vikings, British Islanders, West Africans, and Portuguese
fishermen. There are varying levels of evidence connecting these groups to pre
Columbian America, but still enough to throw doubt into the mix. Columbus got the
credit because of the way in which Europe responded to his discovery. Other false
ideas taught about Columbus deal with what is left out. His original motivation may
have been to find another trade route to the Orient, but his real motivation, in
subsequent expeditions to America, was money. By 1493 Columbus had planned to
plunder Haiti, according to Michele de Cuneo, who had been on Columbus s first
voyage. Columbus, himself, said to Ferdinand and Isabella that his motivation was
gold, and gold constitutes treasure; and he who has it does all he wants in the world,
and can even lift souls up to Paradise (Lies p34). Another side of Columbus

Mean Girls Reponse
Mean Girls Reponse Mean girls is a very influential movie in America and the
majority of people have either watched it or know what it entails. Many people see
this movie as a funny satirical and exaggerated take on American high school but
in reality it has a much deeper meaning to it. The movie revolves around a transfer
student ,Cady, who had grown up in Africa and was home schooled her entire life.
It shows her pretending to be friends with the popular group The Plastics so that
she can find out their secrets and report back to her other, less popular friends.
However, in the end she becomes sucked into the group and starts to treat everyone
else in the same horrible ways The Plastics do. This movie opened my eyes and
help me to gain a sociological perspective into the high schools in America. I was
able to notice all of the different norms, values, and types of cultures that make up
high school. While teenagers in high school have their own type of culture there are
also many subcultures that make up the school. An example of a time in which the
audience sees these subcultures is when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The plastics represent the dominant culture in the high school. They are the group
that most of the people in the school aspire to be and they also somewhat set the
norms. This is exemplified when Regina s shirt has hole cut into her shirt. Once she
wears the ripped shirt once the rest of the school follows by cutting their own shirts
and it turns into a new trend. On the other hand the art freaks represent the
counterculture because they are the ones that see how horrible The Plastics really are
and who try to break the dominant culture. The audience can see this counter culture
when they device a plan to break up The Plastics. They use the new student Cady to
pretend to be friends and gain information about them to help them down the line to
bring down the dominant

The Rwandan Genocide, The Holocaust, And Genocide
Crimes against humanity are always preventable. They can be defined specific acts
which are intentionally carried out to harm or certain civilian population. They
always occur when one group or leader has ultra nationalistic values and beliefs,
meaning they feel they are above all others and are superior. Historically, there has
never been a genocide or crime against humanity that was unexpected or an incident
that couldn t have been stopped. In the world we live in today, despite the fact that
most of the population has internet access and social media right at their fingertips,
passionate acts of abuse to human beings are still occurring. Subsequently, most
people who aren t affected by crimes against humanity choose to ignore them. How
are cases of violence against humanity supposed to stop, when the majority of people
block it out? It s our responsibility as citizens to recognize these brutal actions and
stop them. Preventing crimes against humanity is possible, and to understand how
we can end them by fully intervening, we can analyze in the Rwandan Genocide, the
Holocaust, and Isis. The incident in Rwandawhich became known as a genocide,
began in 1994. Over the course of 100 days, approximately 70% of Tutsipeople living
in Rwanda had been brutally slaughtered. However, this genocide was no surprise.
Tensions between Rwanda s two groups, the Hutus and Tutsis had been evolving for
years. Additionally, the Hutus made up the large majority of the population, making

A very interesting point to be made here is: in each of this battle, Microsoft wasn t
the technological leader in respective sector and wasn t providing the best solution.
In the Browser War , it successfully attacked Netscape s business model by bundling
Internet Explore on Windows for free. In other two cases, it managed to provide
products that were good enough and were easier to be used as default tools on its
dominating Windows operating system[7][8].
Microsoft has also established signification presence in sectors such as web based
services, server software, enterprise database management system, software
development tools and game console. Since 2003, Microsoft has been trying to
establish itself as a major player in internet search engine. However, its effort so
far has not been successful. Google has been the run away leader in internet
searching since the early years of 21st century, leading Microsoft s Live Search and
Yahoo! by large margins. In 2008, Microsoft acquired Yahoo! in a bid to close the
gap on this particular sector.
Microsoft s tactics in establishing dominance in the IT industry is often a matter of
concern for governments. Both the U.S. and E.U. governments have high profile and
long running anti trust suits against Microsoft. In both cases Microsoft was accused
of abusing its monopoly power in its handling of

Amanda Holoan Essay
Analytical Essay UNWANTED by Amanda Holohan
Do fantasy, horror and science fiction stories share genre elements?
The novel UNWANTED by Amanda Holohan has many elements of science fiction
but it also contains some elements of action. Dystopia dominates the novel that is
categorised in the science fiction genre consisting of a futuristic setting and myths
with supernatural powers. The novel is riveting and enthralling because the usage of
different elements such as foreshadowing and plot twists.
Throughout the novel it was evident the setting was futuristic which created an
oppressive and rebellious environment. In the novel UNWANTED there was a
strict division of citizens, which lead to curiosity and conflict between classes of
citizens. The novel is built around a nation where your categorised in being either a
Dread, a stork, inked or an unwanted which is justified by A high fence separated
the dump from the rest of the city and a single road led through the gate Followed
by that a guard by the gatehouse said This place isn t safe for a law abiding citizen .
The novel categorises the dump as section of area where unwanted citizens live
within the tunnels of rubbish and rock. Whilst unwanted lived in the dump, storks,

crime or sin against the government you were taken to the dump. The novel is based

Stereotypes In Rush Hour
Media as a whole has evolved alongside with the growth of technology, that give us
new ways to interact with each other with social sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc... It
also gives way for individual to get more information to get in touch with our culture.
But often times, some of the information were given to us by media can be ignored
and interpret it differently than the original meaning, especially the depiction of
minorities in media. It is hard to watch any form of media in today s society without
seeing some kind of injustice toward minorities or the representation portrayal of that

One of the scenes in particular, introduces the main antagonist of the movie, Mr.

wrong with this scene is ultimately come down to the movie representation of the
character, Mr. Chow and the many problems with different stereotypes this
character trying to represent. The movies industry also play around with the Asian
Stereotypes in movies of having really thick Asian accents if you look Asian, even
if the actor is American. That principle also applied in this movie. One of the many
problems of the character is his questionable appearance and his character
movements. Within a few second into the scene, the camera shows a wide shot of
him standing next his bodyguard. What makes Mr. Chow standing out from his
bodyguard is his flashy appearance, which is consist of gold jacket, white pants,
oversized women sunglasses and the excessive amount of jewelry and accessories
on his body. And also with his body languages such as the popping of the hip, the
easy flowing of the hand gesture and hand placements in various place in his bodies.
The problems of this portrayal escalated even more when Mr. Chow reveal his full

Summer Camp Research Paper
We need to return them better than they were given to us . It was drilled into our
heads from day one of training, until the Friday of the final week. This was not a
statement concerning a materialistic item, but something of infinitely greater
value: the lives of children. You would not expect such a heavy responsibility from
your employment at a summer camp. Everyday, we embarked on adventures that
changed their perspectives on the world around them, just as the summer sunshine
was changing the tone of their skin. It was hard to believe how much the kids had
developed over the course of the summer, and it was even harder to comprehend
how my interaction with their childhoods fostered such a departure from mine.
Preparing for this job was not easy: a twenty hour training period was to be
completed weeks before the beginning of camp. Delivered to us trainees from the
voices of first hand witnesses, we were exposed to the horrors of child abuse and
the gravity of our roles in preventing it. Child abuse did not happen mostly in dark
alley ways, but in places that are filled with kids and nearby witnesses, which fit the
description of the YMCA summer camps perfectly. Long... Show more content on

Everyday, when I saw familiar faces or greeted new little ones into my group, I was
determined to protect those children, and give them the summer camp experience
they so deserved; unfortunately, balancing the two was about as easy as taming a
cat. Fun for the kids was running off to places that were too far from my sight, too
close to danger. Time and time again, I found myself reeling them in and keeping
them stationed in place, away from the opportunities to explore and enjoy the
campground. My full control of the situation became a necessity, but this was not
the way that the kids would grow. There would always be the shadow of danger
when in charge of a large group of children, but it was up to me to be brave enough
to let freedom run, even if it was out of my comfort

High Renaissance Art
Three fascinating artists known as Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo marked
the stylistic period of the Italy 1500 to 1600. These three men inspired the high
Renaissance. Florence and Rome hosted the leading artist for that century. I will
like to describe a painting of Raphael that caught my attention from reading the
textbook; it is called the Marriage of the Virgin. In this painting the artists used
linear perspective to create the illusion of space in the far back. He placed the
vanishing point of the one point perspective in the doorway of the beautiful painted
round house that is symmetrical on both side. The artists created the plaster in
different sizes of rectangular shapes in red and cream colors to emphasize on the
importance of linear perspective in the painting. If the painting was divided in two
parts, the viewer will see that it is symmetric on both sides. There are thirteen figures
on each side of the painting with the high priest being the middleman placed in the
center of the human drama. He also put the figures in groups that relate to the part
they each play in the artwork, this is known as a unified figure group in high... Show

In the back of the portrait he included a beautiful landscape by incorporating
chiaroscuro and atmospheric perspective. The figure itself is a triangular shape.
The artist used different shades of colors to achieve the smoky look he wanted.
The emotion is maintained and well balance; this can be seen in the way she seated
quietly and the gentle smile on the figure. The figure also gazes directly at the
viewer to encage with them. In many cultures women are not allowed to look in the
eyes of men because men are perceive to be dominant and superior over females.
During the renaissance people dictated that women should not do the same, however
Leonardo was able to capture the personality of this woman through her

What Are The Stereotypes In The Bell Jar
The book the Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and the short story the yellow wallpaper by
Charlotte Gilman are both about two women who have severe mental issues. On

The Importance Of The Patriot Act
After the 9/11 attack on America many people were scared and terrified of the
possibility of more terrorist attacks. In order to help stop terrorist attacks the
government hastily passed the Patriot Act which allowed the NSA to spy on any
American through their phone, email, bank records, and their internet history
without the need for a warrant. This act was supposed to help Americans feel more
safe in our country, but in reality it takes away from our rights as Americans. Many
believe this act protects us, but in reality it takes away our rights and doesn t show
any results. The government shouldn t have any right to listen on anyone s phone
or look at their internet history. The Patriot Act was passed way to fast in the US
and should be stopped as it violates our rights as Americans while also giving the
NSA way too much power and information. The Patriot Act is unconstitutional and
steps on the rights of Americans through how it allows law enforcement to spy on
private information. The Patriot Act was first passed in October 26, 2001 a mere 45
days after the 9/11 attack. The act allows the NSA to collect email and phone records
and even internet history. One reason why the Patriot Act is horrible for Americans is
what they do with the information after getting it. In Source 5 it is stated that the
NSA is not required to delete information even if it refers to innocent Americans (Con
Graphic). This means that any information that the government has on you, even if it

HNGN. With the Nuggets latest hiring of Mike Malone, the 64 year old Karl is
well aware that the man he replaced in Sacramento is more of a slow down, half

that would not be interesting or rewarding for his former player. Not to mention
that Lawson s foremost skill and offensive weapon, his speed, will not be

Integrative Problems and Virtual Organization Strategy
Team A has been assigned the task of examining expansion methods for the Riordan
Manufacturing Company. Team A will perform an evaluation of the strengths,
weaknesses/limitations, opportunities, and threats relating to the challenges of going
public through an Initial Public Offering. Team A will draw a conclusion concerning
the success that the Initial Public Offering process will bring to Riordan
Manufacturing Company and how the Initial Public Offering status will allow
Riordan Manufacturing Company to maintain their position as leaders in the plastic

Huge amounts of personnel hours are expended during this process. When a
company goes public it becomes the property of the shareholders and thus is required
to report all of their financial records and plans for the future.
Opportunities of an Initial Public Offering Riordan Manufacturing as a result of the

Company going public offers an opportunity for the company s founders and venture
capitalists to reclaim their early investments, and provides a public valuation of the

to lose control of the decision making process within the company. Another
disadvantage is the reality of greater accountability of the Security and Exchange

Invitation To The Life Span Analysis
In the textbook titled Invitation to the Life Span, authored by Kathleen Berger,
explains Robert Sternberg s theory of love. Sternberg s theory has three parts which
are passion, intimacy, and commitment. When all three are present, it is perfect love
and an ideal that is sometimes attained (Berger, 2014, p.475). I agree with Sternberg
s theory of lovebecause I believe people look for these three notions of love to share
with someone because they seem to work in unison.
First, I consider passion an essential part of being in love. This is because people
long to have someone to hold and show their affection towards each other.
Secondly, intimacy is also crucial to being in love. Intimacy not only means to be
physically intimate, this also

Romeo And Juliet Vs Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet go through a lot since meeting each other. They are considered
one of literature s most exciting couples because they do whatever they can to be
with each other. They also share a love that is one of the finest in all of history.
Romeo and Juliet are truly in love with each other because they value their time
together, they have constant thoughts about each other, and they are willing to
sacrifice what either of them has to be together. First of all, Romeo and Juliet truly
value their time that they have together. This is shown on page 404, line 33, where
Shakespeare states, O Romeo. Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? and on page
405 , line 66, where Shakespeare also states, With love s light wings did I o perch
these walls; For stony limits cannot hold love out, And for what love can do that
dares love attempt. This shows that both, Romeo and Juliet, truly do value their time
together because of the way they longer for each other s presence. This also shows
how Juliet is desperate to spend time with Romeo because of how she questions
where Romeo is. And... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can first be seen on page 404, line 50, where Shakespeare puts it, Call me but
love, and I ll be new baptized; Henceforth I will never be Romeo. This shows how
Romeo is willing to sacrifice his own name just to be called Juliet s love. Also, this
shows that Romeo will do anything for Juliet as long as they are in love. Another
case where Romeo or Juliet makes a sacrifice for the other is on page 475, line 161,
where Shakespeare wrote, Go get thee hence, for I will not away. What s here? A
cup closed in my truelove s hand? . . . This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die.
This clarifies how Juliet is unwilling to leave her true love, Romeo, and would rather
sacrifice her life to be with his than to live without him. Therefore, Romeo and Juliet
would be willing to do anything for each

Globe Theater Research Paper
The Globe Theater s beautiful building design and interesting former times have
been a very notable element of our past, it had even held many of Shakespeare s
famous plays. The whole world is a playhouse and one of the most important
playhouses in the world would have to be The Globe Theater . It is nearly
impossible to think of our world without The Globe Theater and all the interesting
occurrences that have happened involving it. This theater could have been nothing
more than a building if it were for all the important history that was incorporated
into it making it be such an important piece of history. Between 1597 and 1599, The
Globe Theater was built and it officially opened in 1599. In the beginning, there were

many more, check out www.ilemi.com to watch their games. For me though one man
stands out. The thing is the man in question does not make me like him, neither do I
feel comfortable in acknowledging his greatness. The facts of the matter are, that he
has everything. A constant threat going forward and dangerous in a number of
positions. For me that man is Cristano Ronaldo which I say through gritted teeth. The
one man that can make a team it seems. Both at Man Utd and Real Madrid were he
is playing now, has he brought something extra to the team. In teams full of stars he
is still the man that stands out. He has a tremendous amount of skill with such

It could be from shirt sales alone without even looking at the other revenue he
generates for the club. You can be sure that Man Utd would not have sold Ronaldo
had he himself wanted to stay. For me though this was good business from both
teams. A good return for Man Utd (by the way were has that money gone?) but at
the same time a good investment and exceptional talent to add to an already
ridiculous side. So although I may think he is arrogant and not the most likable
person I would put this aside. At the end of the day I m a winner too and with this
man in your team you would be half way there if not the whole way to success.
When the Olympics are in London it would be lovely to think there could be a British
football team. The grim reality is this is unlikely to happen. In this article I will
discuss the arguments and suggest what could be done to overcome the obstacles.
The three main arguments against the team is the disruption to the Premiership,
voting rights for the four countries that make up Great Britain and the complexities in
selecting a team. Firstly the Olympics takes place in early August the same time the
Premiership starts. The conflict is clear, but representing your country is a great
honour.

The Role Of Women In The Qin Dynasty
n the Qin Dynasty (221 BC 207 BC), The daily life for farmers was very hard. The
farmers had to plow their land, pick fresh crops, clean crops and sell crops, all by
themselves. It was a tough day for the average farmer. Coins were the main currency
but farmers could also barter using their crops. Weights and measures, coinage and
script were standardized throughout the country.
The position of women in everyday life was not fun. Since the civilization was
strictly male dominance, there was not much that women could do, regarding
themselves. The women were forced to stay home to care for children and do
household chores while men were out working on farms and in markets. Women
didn t have any choice in marriage, or anything else for that matter. Anything
regarding their spouse, their household, their land, or their farms, the women didn t
get a single word in it. When girls began growing up, their feet were broken and
bandaged multiple times over a long period of time, reducing the size of their feet.
This was an extremely painful process that took a long time, but was considered
mandatory and normal thing for women.
A peasant was usually given one of two jobs. Either farming or harvesting silk. If
the farmer refused or did not work hard enough, they were sentenced to death or sent
to work on the wall. Qin Shi Huang who was the King, did not believe these laws
were harsh. He potentially saved thousands from famine, flood and war because of
these strict laws. He once said A thousand may die so that millions may live.
Qin was a significant ruler and king for these reasons.
Qin became king when he was 13 because of his father s death who was king at the
time. When he was 38, Qin had conquered all of the other Warring States and
unified all of China in 221 BC.Qin ordered construction of the Great Wall around
221 B.C They began the construction of the Great Wall of China but they could not
finish in the short time that the Qin Dynasty was around . The wall was finished in
later dynasties. When the wall was all done, it extremely big. It stretched out to be
about 8851 km long. The walls purpose was to hold off any threat. The Qin Dynasty
was the first unified, multi national and power centralized state in

Dinoflagellate Algae
Negative impacts of Dinoflagellate algae: economic, ecologic, and human health
hazards
ABSTRACT Increasing pollution both atmospheric and oceanic are encouraging
algal growth and increasing the frequency and geographic range of high density
dinoflagellate blooms. Public health and economic impacts, as well as negative
ecological effects of the aquatic environment are increasing the scientific research
done on toxic dinoflagellate species. Contaminated bivalves are causing paralytic
shellfish poisoning (PSP) and diarrhetic shellfish poisoning in humans (DSP); with
the number of cases increasing steadily in the last 40 years. Toxins released by
certain species of the phylum dinoflagellate are the cause of this spreading ... Show

A general trophic routing and impact model is proposed in Fig. 1 below, (Smayda
1992). Aquaculture has recently started to have major concern surround
dinoflagellate species taking over bioassay tanks, that house several species of
finfish that are being decimated by the presence of one of the thousands of species
of dinoflagellates. Finfish, is an important group of fish to coastal fishing

dinoflagellate, and the spines extending down the length of their bodies. Table 1
below is a list of all finish, bivalves, and various oceanic wildlife affected by recent
increases in dinoflagellate populations. (Anderson et al. 1993). In the following
review I will cover impacts toxic dinoflagellate species are having on oceanic
organisms and the subsequent effects to aquaculture and fishing industries, and the
reasons for increasing frequencies and densities of toxic blooms.
INCREASING ALGAL BLOOMS Algae population dynamics is based on growth,
transportation, predation, mortality, and dispersion. The success of an algal
population depends on the gains and losses depicted in a basic equation of population
dynamics: dN/dt=(Growth+Immigration) (Predation+Mortality+Dispersion). If the
gains are higher than the losses a bloom will

Punishment Vs. Rehabilitation And Rehabilitation
Punishment vs Rehabilitation
Punishment and rehabilitation are topics of many debates, especially when it comes
to the effectiveness of them both but when these two dynamics work collectively
they will be helpful in controlling crime. Punishment and rehabilitation is expected
for those that have elected to disobey the law; these are only two of the four
recognized objectives with in the criminal justice system, the others include
deterrence and incapacitation. Punishing offenders and then subsequently involving
rehabilitation in the course of community supervision can be the foundation to help
prevent crime. Of course, the punishment and re integration stage should be rooted
on the character of the offense. When the proper sentence is ... Show more content on

There is significant variability in the outcome connected with the type of
treatment, for example, how well it is put into action, and the personality of the
wrongdoer to whom it is applied. Programs used to re establish offenders to lessen
recidivism are effective if they include proven standards and are aimed to the
detailed needs of the offenders; this type of rehabilitation treatments are time and
again positive and reasonably significant. The specific sources of that variability
have not been well explored, but some principles for effective treatment have
emerged (Cullen Lipsey, 2007). Offenders who gain their high school equivalency
diploma while incarcerated are prone to get a job after release, researchers reveal.
In addition, those who go through vocational training are highly probable to get
jobs with better wages and offenders that went through any drug treatment program
during incarceration are less probable to go back to using drugs outside of
confinement. When effective programs are implemented, offenders that recidivism
could be reduced by 15 to 20 percent (Petersilia, 2011). This is not to express that
criminology is a challenge that can always be resolved. There is an explanation for
why people go to prison and depending on the circumstances there is incredibly little
or nothing can be done to alter the options

How Did Duke Williams Win The Battle Of Hastings
Duke Williams: The Winner of The Battle of Hastings
What if the Candidates for the president of the U.S. had to fight in a battle to see
who would win the election. As crazy as it sounds, this is how Duke Williams
became King of England in 1066. In January of 1066 the death of King Edward the
Confessor was the beginning of the Battle of Hastings. When King Edward died, he
had no children to inherit the throne. The legend says that before his death, King
Edward sat up and pointed to Harold Godwinson who was across the room ( Hastings
). Shortly after he died, Harold became the King of England. There were three other
people who fought to be heir to the throne. Harold defeated two of them fairly
quickly. He had hoped he could also defeat the third opponent, Duke Williams, but
this was not the case. On October 14, 1066 the Battle between Harold and Duke
Williams, later to be known as the Battle of Hastings, began. Duke Williams was
the leader of the Norman army and led his troops to victory at the Battle of Hastings

Diversity In Chicago
Since the six grade I always wanted to travel to Chicago for band. So I joined a
band I had an extremely fun Time. I got to seventh grade and I was in concert band
and if I wanted to perform in Chicago I had to make the symphonic band by eighth

second chair in the symphonic band tuba section. I made it through almost all of
eighth grade year and made a lot of memories but, I still had one more to go, Chicago.
We were in Chicago walking from Sears tower to The Bean. It was awesome, all of
the buildings, the smells and all of the diversity in the city was astonishing. There
was a man of African American ethnicity that approached us and asked if we would
like to donate to the homeless shelter that he lives in, I have him $5 and I felt
really bad for him. We get to an art figure and stood on pillars placed in front of it,
and took pictures. Passing by the pizza place that we ate at later on we were
confronted by a group of christians caroling in the streets of Chicago, and we were
asked if we wanted to sing with them. We rejected the question and continued
walking down the street. Overall in four days I saw a diversity level way higher than

During the 1990 s, Somalia had a famine crisis, which many Westerners labeled as a
humanitarian crisis. As always, the hegemon, which was the United States, stepped
up to the plate and helped in providing food for the starving Somalis. Seeing starving
children drew Westerners to sympathize with these individuals and they blamed the
inept Somali government for not doing enough to help its citizens. The intervention
was meant to deliver food to the Somalia, but later that turned to mission creep , the

Often times, Western states do not intervene because, they believe in sovereignty and
that these nations have a right to rule themselves without outside interference. When
Western nations do not interfere, the result like many, is a bigger conflict (i.e.
genocide) among local population and more people die, many are displaced and
become refugees. Similarly, Deborah Thomas book argues that the violence in
Jamaica is not passed from generation to generation, but due to the history of
colonization. Yet, many anthropologist, when doing their research, always see the
violence in Jamaica as something that has always been there, something that is innate.
Ultimately, that has influenced how the international community has viewed
conflicts in Jamaica, that is, as a thing that has always been a part of the nation and
that we should not bother to get involved in it. In conclusion, we always expect
certain cultures to be, act, and behave a certain way. Until these cultures, are involved

Summary Of Bernard WilliamsUtilitarianism And Integrity
In Bernard Williams Utilitarianism Integrity he begins by defining Utilitarianism as a
philosophical theory that focuses on maximizing happiness as much as possible or in
certain ethical dilemmas picking the lesser of two evils. He gives two scenarios of
where two men face an ethical dilemma in efforts of demonstrating utilitarianismand
objection to consequentialism. Furthermore, Robert Nozick s The Experience
Machine and the utilitarian test cases of George and Jim relate since they reject the
ideology of hedonism.
In the first test case, George recently just has gotten his PhD in Chemistry and is
having a tough time in landing a job. It is made clear that George is an elderly man
who is not robust in health thus reducing the number of jobs that he is able to do.
Because of this, George s wife must go out and work to support him and their
smaller children which is stressful enough since they have issues in looking after
them in which causes damaging effects on the children. However, George is faced
with an opportunity to get a job with a decent pay to work in a laboratory which
pursues research into biological and chemical warfare. George is against chemical
and biological warfare and he wants to refuse the job. The issue is made clear that
George s refusal will not make the laboratory or job go away and there is person
interested in the job and if he were appointed he would most likely push the research
with greater zeal than George. George was offered the job by

Instant replay has benefitted sports because it allows referees to make difficult calls
and see things on the field of play that have been obstructed from view. Today, the
technology has become so advanced, that most calls that the referees get wrong can
be clearly seen by instant replay. The gamemay take longer but, the outcome is fairer.
When the stakes are really high every single call can affect the outcome of the game,
so you want to get them right. Fans can see instant replay while refs cannot and

Prestige Rather than National Security was the Main Concern of Henry VIII s
Foreign Policy from 1529 1547
During the 1930 s, much of Henry s foreign policy was distracted by reformation
and as England had broken away from Rome, England was on its own and to some
degree in a vulnerable situation especially when England was threatened by a
Catholic crusade from The Empire and France. Henry was alarmed by this threat and
used monastic wealth to build up England s defences. Henry spent a staggering
₤600.00 on coastal forts and on the navy; therefore, showing that during the

Also the Greenwich treaty would help England s security for the future, as there
would be an alliance between England and Scotland due to the marriage. Also how
can Henry really gain glory from invading Scotland, if he really did want to gain

France, therefore, showing once again that Henry s main concern when invading
Scotland was national security.
When Henry invaded France in 1544, his main concern was national security as
France had been a traditional enemy and invading France would be seen as a glory
war, but this came second in his foreign policy, as France had threatened England
with crusades in 1540 s, therefore, he had to protect his security, by striking first.
Even though Henry personally captured Bologne when he invaded France, was
mainly prestige, but was also in order to prove a point to his enemy that no power
can threaten England s security.
When Henry made an alliance with the Emperor Charles V in 1543 its objective was
of capturing Paris, but also because having the greatest power in Europe On you side

books currently located in his city. However, when Guy meets a strange girl living
outside of his apartment, he becomes intrigued with what books have the power to
do. Instead of following orders, Guy starts wondering why he is doing what he is
told to do rather than just doing what he is told. Breakfast of Champions is a science
fiction noveldescribing the lives of two strange men. One of these men is Kilgore
Trout, an unheard of novelist who will soon become one of the most famous men in
America. The other man in this story is Dwayne Hoover, a wealthy man who made
his fortune off of speculation on the stock market. Despite his luxurious home and
fantastic job, Dwayne will soon be appalled by Kilgore Trout s idea that everyone
around Dwayne is a robot. In both of these novels, change is an essential theme. In
Fahrenheit 451, focus will be brought on the change of the world in which Guy
resides, and also the change of Guy as a person, while in Breakfast of Champions,
the focus of change is how much America has changed since 1973. There once was a
time when reading was legal.

Interaction between Political and Social Life in Ancient Imperial Rome
The interaction between political and social life in Ancient Rome has been
accurately portrayed in the well researched novel, The Course of Honour , by
Lindsey Davies. However as this is a fictional novel told as an interesting story
instead of fact, the information given must be corroborated with several primary
sources to correct any inherent biases.
Lindsey Davies is an author who specialises in writing about life in Ancient Rome.
Her novels are famous for the detective work of Marcus Didius Falco, with books
such as Last Act in Palmyra , Venus in Copper , A Dying Light in Corduba and The
Iron Hands of Mars winning her the Sherlock Holmes Award for ... Show more

But when Vespasian, in the course of his general triumph, restored stable government
to Britain... (Tacitus, p.68)
As well as being a strong source of information about political life during this time,
the novel also catalogues the struggles faced before and after marriage by
Vespasians mistress, the freedwoman Caenis. Their forbidden relationship is
threatened as Vespasian reaches the height of his political career. Caenis was but a
footnote mentioned in history which Davies has sanctified into a wonder woman
without whom Vespasians career could not have possibly succeeded. This obvious
glorification of a story is an example of a bias used to make a tale more interesting,
and the lack of historical sources commenting on Caenis only proves that she is
nowhere near as important as Davis makes her out to be. Regardless, this novel
achieves its aim as an interesting secondary source of information on Imperial Rome
from two totally different perspectives that of a slave and freedwoman, and that of an
emperor. It showcases very suitably both the social and political struggles which are
faced in upkeeping this unlikely relationship.
There are different viewpoints on the way slaves were treated in Imperial Rome.
Caenis in the story is first portrayed as a faithful and respectful slave, claiming I
know how to keep my mouth shut, any sensible slave does! (Davies, p.17) This
restricted form of life is backed up by this quote by a primary

Essay On Angiogenesis
CRISPR Cas9: These scissors can save lives one snip at a time!
CRISPR Cas9 mediated gene editing of VEGFR2 exhibits the potential to mitigate
angiogenesis related diseases
Angiogenesis a fundamental physiological process entailing the creation of new
blood vessels is implicated in diseases such as cancer, retinopathy, and macular
degeneration. Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) plays an
important role in angiogenesis as it implements microvascular permeability and
neovascularization in response to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) binding
to it. Inactivation of the receptor serves as a viable treatment for angiogenesis related
illnesses. Current treatment plans include VEGF antibodies and/or VEGFR2 ... Show

The study corroborates the ability of genome editing to abrogate angiogenesis,
however, some caveats must be addressed before considering this treatment for
clinical use in humans. Safety remains a primary concern because genome editing is
irreversible and any detrimental off target mutations could impair cell function.
Further, the viral delivery system could be threatening to the public, therefore, a non
viral platform can be developed to progress its clinical application. Nonetheless, the
study s findings tackle other safety aspects to support its clinical use. For example,
the study reported that CRISPR/Cas9 treatment did not affect any off target
sequences. Optical examinations of the mice used in the study revealed that the
intravitreal injection did not modify retinal structure and function.
Even though the CRISPR/Cas9 system is not a new phenomenon, the novelty of this
research lies in the intervention of gene editing in intraocular pathological
angiogenesis. Abnormal angiogenesis is characteristic of diseases associated with
blindness affecting millions of people of all ages. Since CRISPR/Cas9 technology
produces a permanent genetic alteration, it

Definition Of Rowing Essay
Some things are hard for people to understand. Like how anyone could be proud of
nasty, yellow calluses that make your hands feel like leather or how anyone could
hate a machine that s supposed to help you. To most rowing is just another sport, but
to people who row it s a key component of their identity. I believe the hardest thing
for people to understand about rowingis why anyone would put themselves through
intense pain to win a race. Sometimes it s even hard for me to remember why I
started rowing in the first place. Then I realize that I don t know what I d do if I
didn t row. I don t know where I would be without my teammates, coaches, and
parents who have pushed and supported me to do better and be better.
Rowing has taught me more

Background and objectives: Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is an increasingly
recognized complication of liver cirrhosis. It is associated with worsening liver
function, ascites and the occurrence of gastroesophageal variceal bleeding. The aim
of this work was to clarify the risk factors, clinical presentation and complications of
portal vein thrombosis in patients with liver cirrhosis and to study the outcome with
or without treatment after
6 months follow up.
Methods: Hospitalized cirrhotic patients (N = 80) were segregated into the
PVT and non PVT groups. PVT was detected by

Ezra-Nehemiah
The inspiration for Bede s reform program comes from a pattern that can be found
in the book of Ezra Nehemiah which can be conveniently divided into three
sections. Each of these sections deals with a similar situation and issues: a return
from exile which includes projects of restoration and reform. Today modern
English translations of the Bible print the text of Ezra Nehemiah as two distinct
books. By having Ezra and Nehemiah as separate books was not always the way in
which these texts were written; they were traditionally combined into one book in
the Hebrew and Greek Bibles. However, by considering them as one document, it
will help to make it much easier to understand the book in its three parts. The first
portion of Ezra Nehemiah... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bede begins by levelling a list of grievances that he has regarding the state of the
episcopate in Northumbria. According to him, the bishops were neglecting their
duties such as preaching, teaching, visitations, and confirmation. There was also a
general decline in the moral behaviour of bishops. Bede mentions this in his letter
when he writes that they are given to laughter, jokes, idle tales, feasting and
drunkenness and other attractions of a loose way of life. Bishops would typically
only preach if they received money for it, which led to a spiritual impoverishment
for the laity. The laypeople lacked adequate instruction in the faith not only
because of the waywardness of bishops but also because there were not enough
priests to give a good example to the laity to imitate. Another abuse that Bede
objects to is the unjust taxation of the lay faithful and any other forms of clerical
avarice. Many remote farms, hamlets, and small villages were neglected by their
bishop; they were still, however, expected to pay their ecclesial taxes. Bede also
mentions that there simply are not enough dioceses in Northumbria, which would
help to resolve the laity s lack of spiritual education. The reason why bishops were
opposed to the creation of new sees is that larger dioceses... maximize[d] the dues [or
taxes that could be] exacted from the
