Portraits During The Renaissance
During the Renaissance, portraits were very powerful to the Italian culture and society because
they highlighted the development of the individual. This is important because the Renaissance
focused on classical learning and art, rather than just religious figures which can be portrayed
through different portraits showing actual living people and represents humanism. Portraits in the
early 15th century were meant to be represented as the ideal republican citizen , and were also
made to honor the dead and be given as wedding gifts. People giving others portraits as gifts was a
very popular thing to do back then, especially to friends or family members because it was a way to
express love and affection towards others. Also, portraits during the Renaissance highlighted the
importance of family ancestors through history in the Italian culture.
It is very important to emphasize how Italian women were represented in portrait painting during
the Renaissance, considering how much it changed from the early 13th century, to the 15th century.

The portrait of Mona Lisa is very different to other portraits of women because Mona Lisa is seen
looking directly at the viewers, which is very uncommon because almost all women are seen
looking off into the distance. Also, she is sitting directly in front of the audience giving us a
clear view of her full face, instead of only being able to see her side profile. Lastly, when you look
at Mona Lisa s face it is clear to see that she looks calm and assured, which is something that is
seen in mens portraits not women s. Leonardo da Vinci s painting of Mona Lisa was the start of a
very important change on the way society viewed women, and he started a trend that continued to

Environmental Issues Of Ocean Pollution
Environmental issues such as ocean pollution is caused by the careless acts of humans. Ocean
Pollution is a serious environmental issue that is slowly killing our largest water source and many
innocent sea creatures. Some things we will be looking over is the causes and effects as well as
the way it is severely killing and destroying not only marine life, but their homes.
One of the biggest sources of pollution is called nonpoint source pollution, which occurs as a
result of runoff. (What Is the Biggest Source of Pollution in the Ocean? From NOAA, 2016) These
are from things like septic tanks, sewers, littering, or automobiles. When we think of pollution, we
think of wrappers or plastic pieces that were carelessly thrown into the wild, ... Show more content

A big issue within all of the plastic in the ocean is the BPA inside. BPA is an organic pollutant
and not healthy for our environment. BPA is found in a lot of plastic and kills marine life as it
disintegrates in the waters. (Pyrek, C. (n.d.). Plastic Paradise (1st ed., Vol. 28). Retrieved
November 9, 2017.)
When it comes to ocean pollution, it doesn t only affect our beaches, but it also affects the sea
animals. In Figure 1, you can see an innocent seahorse wrapping their tale around a q tip. The
seahorse in Hofman s photo is just one example of how marine animals interact with plastic
debris. (How a Photographer Snapped This Tragic Photo of a Seahorse Lugging a Q Tip. The
Verge, The Verge, 15 Sept. 2017) This seahorse now does not know that the debris isn t okay or
out of the usual, but just adapted it as their everyday life because the plastic levels in the sea is
increasing massively year by year. Human waste is taking over the sea and this photo proves just
that.
The garbage patch is full of trash that is from runoff or trash left by careless fisherman. In the
documentary Plastic Paradise, Angela Sun discusses how fisherman leave fishing nets in the ocean.
If they get trapped or dirty, typically the fisherman s easy way out is to throw it into the ocean and
forget about it. While floating around in the ocean, the nets eventually get picked up by ocean
currents and

Deliberative Democracy In Canada
According to Joshua Cohen (1997), deliberative democracy is the framework of social and
institutional conditions that facilitate free discussion among equal citizens, by providing favorable
conditions for participations, association...(p. 412) Deliberative democracy a term that is just
recently coming to light of different communities and countries throughout the globe. Deliberative
democracy is many things, it allows for development of new ideas, while establishing long lasting
results. It is localism. Localism is how people from the surrounding area come together to discuss
and change the future of a certain part of their community. One example of this is in the video that
as played in class. The community in Canada saw that mental health was a serious issue between
themselves and other members. To combat this problem they formed a collective to help set a
foundation for the future, to provide support and an overall health plan. People from the community
came together at feasts, workshops, radio any way to receive the most input from the... Show more

The long term result allows for an overall satisfaction. As we see now in America, the
government is or are not passing laws that directly affect us for the better as thought by a
number of individuals. It can not be expected that a senate, or house will able to accurately and
effectively represent such a large population of diversity that America holds or even a small
population as some states have. However, one misconception that can be a challenge is that
deliberation of democracy is thought to only by advantageous when applied within a small
group. However, large scale deliberative democracy can effectively be done. One example of
this is in the UK, small groups of randomly chosen citizens came together as in a jury to
deliberate on an issue. While not every one s voice in the UK was being heard. The people, the
average citizen s role in government has begun to take

Installing The Four Integrated Spaces
I started my design process by sketching the overall form of the four integrated spaces. I intended
the place to be a relaxation centre for the community in an area. The place has to be larger than
private residential space as it is intended for the public.
For the first concept, I intended the space to be of different heights, to show that some spaces need
more privacy than the other. The cellar has to has more privacy than the belvedere and hearth and
bathe space is in between,
The belvedere has to have big openings (windows) so that the occupant of the space can see the
best view of the surrounding. The hearth has to have a fireplace and a chimney, with seating. The
bathe space has to have a medium sized pool and some privacy as an ... Show more content on

The L shaped connected to each other to create a journey. I chose this idea becasuse it goes well
with the other conceptual model and can be developed further.
I started to draw the plan of the spaces on the ground floor. I also experimented with the
appropriate scale of the spaces. The elements of the spaces was decided at this point of the design
process. I also emphasise on the accessibility to all the spaces, to create continuity and connections.
The next step ws to integrate the cellar design (overall form), to match the ground level plan and to
create the best pathway to access all the four spaces, to create an amazing architectural experience.
Sketch of the final form designed after all the spaces was integrated.
Final model, overall form.
I intended the cellar to be a dark place, with low amount of light entering the space. However, still
creates an interesting experience throughout the whole space.
I experimented with arrangement of cards vertically cards with certain intervals to direct the whole
journey. It also creates continuity in the space. The cards have different arrangent of whole that is
going to give some sense of direction for the whole journey . It is meant to be slightly

Lucid Dreaming Paper
Studies with Lucid Dreaming as add on therapy to Gestalt Therapy
Hannah Carter
Pikes Peak Community College
Abstract
The following paper analyzes a psychology journal that examined the results of a clinical study
seeking to teach lucid dreaming, in partnership with gestalt therapy, as an additional tool for dealing
with nightmares. B. Holzinger, G. Klosch, and B. Saletu define lucid dreaming as a learnable skill
with in which the nightmare sufferer learns about dream awareness techniques, providing them with
a means of control when experiencing nightmares (p. 355). In association, Gestalt therapy is defined
as a conscious confrontation of nightmare images in a therapy setting, often by role playing. The
argument is made that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researcher s belief was that the inflated self confidence, that learning lucid dreaming would
equip their patients with, would decrease the patient s anxiety and therefore decrease the frequency
of the nightmares. With supporting evidence from the experiment that there was a decrease in
nightmare frequency, it can be assumed that the researchers think their results can be applied to the
greater majority of adults suffering from recurrent nightmares. The researchers are assuming
through this assertion that all adults suffering from nightmares are under stress. This can be
applied to adults who are suffering from specifically stress resulting from events from 2014. It is
not accurate to assume that all stress is the same and that people will be affected similarly to

Vitamin C Lab Report
Introduction
Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a well known supplement that is essential to the human body. Vitamin
C helps grow and repair body tissue, make collagen, heal wounds, and strengthen bones and teeth.
Unfortunately, the body does not produce this vitamin itself, therefore it must be obtained from
another source. Vitamin C is present in significant amounts in both fruits and vegetables. These
foods are commonly pasteurized a process that applies heat to destroy pathogens that cause
spoilage in food. Pasteurization is great for preserving foods, but its effects on the food s contents
are important to consider. This process could affect the levels of ascorbic acid in the foods being
consumed for their vitamin C content. Specifically, orange juice, one of the most popular sources
of vitamin C, is going to be used to examine the effects of pasteurization on ascorbic acid levels in
this experiment.
Hypothesis Rationale: Pasteurization decreases the natural level of vitamin C in orange juice
because the heat may cause the chemical bonds in ascorbic acid to break down and disband.
Materials and Methods
Orange Juice Materials: Three oranges were used for this experiment to obtain a decent amount
of juice. Each orange was cut in half and juiced according to steps 1 and 2 of Appendix I of the
Laboratory Manual for Biology 201 (Denniston, Wimmers, Hemm 2015). The juice from the first
orange and one half of the second orange was strained into a small beaker following

Analysis Of Antonio Vivaldi s The Four Seasons
Antonio Vivaldi, a Baroque composer conceived in Venice in 1678, is extremely outstanding for
his sonatas, musical dramas, and vocal music, yet especially for his 500 or more concertos.
Among these works is potentially Vivaldi s most prestigious concerto, The Four Seasons . This
piece is to a great degree expressive, particularly as it is joined by an individual poem for each
season, which gives the entertainers a manual for deciphering the nuances that are ever present in
Vivaldi s works.[1] Vivaldi is additionally the most illustrative European author of a kind that he
advanced in the 1710s, the twofold violin concerto, and these works are known to have impacted
future writers, notwithstanding including Bach.[2] Vivaldi is likewise said to have either imagined
or if nothing else to have promoted ritornello in his concertos, notwithstanding numerous different
ideas, for example, little motivic units that he utilized as topics, and his utilization of mood to
fabricate strain as his creations escalated.[3] Vivaldi was a critical arranger in his chance and even
right up til today as a result of his various synthesis, the new melodic structures he presented, and
the numerous melodic ideas that he promoted through his pieces. This paper will initially talk about
the foundation paving the way to Vivaldi s profession and different life effects on his music, trailed
by the different melodic structures and ideas that he utilized, a standout amongst the most surely

New Mexico Case Study
(1) List and discuss at least three reasons for the reconquest of New Mexico by the Spanish.
There are three major reasons the Spanish set out to reconquer and resettle New Mexico. The
first is due to New Mexico s position, just above New Spain, it was viewed to be crucial in
protecting the Spanish crowns assets in New Spain. The second reason the Spanish set out to
reconquer New Mexicois the large population that was left unconverted, and the population that
reverted back from Catholicism after the Pueblo Revolt. The third reason for reconquest of New
Mexico by the Spanish is to keep the Spanish presence on the continent and to protect all of Spain
s assets in the new world from other European powers looking to gain wealth in the Americas. (2)
Who was Don Diego de Vargas? What were his approaches to the reconquest after the Pueblo
Revolt? Don Diego de Vargas was the man chosen to reconquer, resettle, and govern the province
of New Mexico in the name of the Spanish crown. He was chosen because he was a man of
character, wealth, and status and took the task to make a name for himself. Due to the Pueblo
Revolt of 1680 the natives did not trust the Spanish, so his approach to reconquer and resettle
New Mexico had to differ than that of earlier Spanish officials. Don Diego de Vargas had to opt for a

Dexter is a televesion program that debued in 2006. It follows a middle aged man named Dexter
Morgan who works for the fictional Miami Metro Police Department as a blood splater anilyst.
To his friends and co workers he seems like a normal man albeit a little socially awkward. This is
far from the truth however as Dexteris actually a serial killer. Thourghout the series we are given
insits into Dexters past to explain how and why he became a serial killer. The main reason is
reviled to be the fact that when he was three years old he witnessed the brutal murder of his
mother in front of him. This lead to him being adopted by the police officer who found him. Its
was not long after he was adopted that his adoptive father started noticing signs that Dexter had
antisocial personality disorder such as killing animals. Instead of taking Dexter to get the help that

Taking a Look at Literary Deconstructionism
What is literary deconstructionism? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary
deconstructionism is the literary analysis that questions the fundamental conceptual distinctions, or
oppositions , in Western philosophy through a close examination of the language and logic of
philosophical and literary texts . In other words it means that the reader makes the text what they
want it to be, they cannot assume that the writer is implying anything by the words he has written;
the text can have a different meaning to each person that reads it. Deconstructionism has been
closely related to the postmodernism era as they both tend to resist definition or classification.
According to Clark Morrow in the July 2007 The Vocabula Review, most people consider the
theory that words are very indistinct tokens of meaning; and can yield any number of meanings as
deconstructionism, while others call it postmodernism; as stated previously these two literary eras
are closely linked. Deconstructionism theory states that can be no misinterpretation of what you
read, the writer may intend to have one meaning of the text but each person that reads it can all
take away different meanings from it. Deconstructionism began in the mid 1960 s, and peaked
during the 1970 s; by a man name Jacques Derrida. Derrida was born in July 1930 in El Bian,
Algeria and died October 8, 2004 in Paris, France; he graduated with his baccaulaureat in 1948
from the Jewish lycee`. After graduation he went on to the

sources of short term financing, especially for small businesses (Jonathan Berk, Peter DeMarzo

The Importance Of Poetry In Literature
Danish Faruqi
Sometimes you come to hate things not because of what they are, but because of what meant to
you. They haven t done anything particularly done anything to you directly. But them being in your
presence doesn t help. I don t hate a lot of things, and in literature, that list is even smaller.
Through my experiences in 12th grade, I realized my new found hatred for confessional poetry and
its effects. Due to my experiences, I don t appreciate or rather take notice to literature that might be
very interesting.
For our Highschool, 12th grade was an interesting year, especially since this was the first year that
an inter school debate talks would take place. Something that was sponsored by the chancellor and
the mayor. Before we even knew about this competition, our class was chosen. When we got to
know about this, the class and the teacher didn t share the same enthusiasm, to say the least. We
were reluctant to participate in anything that put us in front of cameras or other people. But the
teacher was startled and proud that one of her classes was chosen to participate. And thus, the race
to compete was on.
Since the debate talks were on Virginia Woolf s A Room of One s Own, it required us to
understand her style of writing Stream of Consciousness. From there on, our part was to understand
a book which has multiple meanings and multiple perspectives. To make things easier, our teacher
chose to use confessional poetry as a method to uplift only

The Treasure Within the Money Pit on Oak Island
The Treasure Within There is a mystery that brings together the Holy Grail, a band of pirates,
William Shakespeare, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This mystery is the Money Pit located on
Oak Island. People have thrown millions of life savings hoping to get their hands on the treasure in
the Oak Island Money Pit, and all have met with failure. This pit has withstood two centuries of
people trying to discover the treasurewithin. I am certain there is treasure located in the Money Pit
on Oak Island. OakIsland is located off the shores of Nova Scotia, along Canada s Atlantic Coast.
It is one of three hundred and sixty islands around Mahone Bay. Rocks and sand skirt the
perimeter of the island while native forest and shrubbery cover most of its interior. It s about
200 meters from the shore of Nova Scotia and is approximately 140 acres. The discovery of Oak
Island s Money Pit begins in the summer of 1795 when a teenager named Daniel McGinnis saw
strange lights on an island offshore from his parent s house. He noticed an odd circular
depression roughly 13 ft. in diameter on the island s forest floor (The Last Great N. page). He
also saw that a good amount of oak trees around the recession had been cut down. McGinnis
decided to leave the island to ask for the help of his two friends, John Smith and Anthony Vaughan.
The next day, the three teenagers began excitedly digging on the curious site. They were so excited
because the unpopulated wilderness of the region provided

In understanding the difference of database system from conventional file processing system such
as spread sheet, the following attributes helps to know more about it.
Primary Key:
The unique key which we give to the table and creates relationship with the foreign keys in the
other tables is known as a primary key. It removes the risk of redundancy and duplication of data.
Foreign Key:
Foreign key is the primary key on the other table. It is used to link the table with one another. It
ensures that the record for such transaction is present in the former or master table. Let us see the
following diagram for better understanding
Figure.1.
In the above table, we can clearly see that Customer ID in the tblTimeSheet is connected to the
Customer ID in the tblcustomer. We can also see the One to many and many to one relationships in
the relationship database tables above.
Normalization:
Normalization is the process of organizing data in the relational database. The database is split into
tables and record the required information in the given field. The benefit of normalization is that it
reduces data redundancy and dependency of data. (Brett Considine, 2008)
Computer database:
With the increasing requirements of the business world, software developers came up with the
computerized database solution which has multiple built. Computer database reduces the
replication of the data by storing the data at a central location so that everyone can access it

Archetypes Of A Mentor In Edward Bloor s Tangerine
Everyone has had someone block them from gaining success. The person writing this has, and
so have the readers. But, everyone has had a mentor, or a role model, once in their life. A
mentor, in literature, is a mythological archetype. In Edward Bloor s novel, Tangerine, Antoine
Thomas and Luis Cruz fit as the mythological archetype of the mentor. Antoine and Luis are
mentors to Paul, who is the hero, because they are both positive figures, who motivate Paul. For
instance, when Paul was over at Tino s house working on the science project, he was told that
Luis used to play soccer, too. Luis was also handicapped so he didn t understand how. Tino then
told Paul that Luis had to be the goalie. Paul thought Tino was trying to make fun of him, but he
wasn t. The text states, I looked at Tino to see if he was mocking me. He wasn t. He was just
making conversation (Bloor 175). In other words, Paul really thought that Tino was making fun
of him. This conversation helped Paul realize that he could still play soccer with his loss of
eyesight if Luis can play with a knee injury. The word mocking adds a negative tone to this quote,
but it also helps show how this helps Paul. In addition to Luis, Antoine helps motivate Paul, too.
For example, Paul had gotten a call from Joey, Paul s best friend, saying that Antoine was at Mr.
Donnelly s, a newspaper journalist, house. Paul rode down to see what was happening. When he
got there, they were outside. Antoine came down and looked at

The Loss Of Owen Meany By Randy White
Even though both of them suffer losses because of their war with each other, Owen Meany
ultimately ends up as the victor of the war as Owen Meany ended up getting what he wanted by
being forced to go to the University of New Hampshire instead of Harvard or Yale while Randy
White only suffered losses from his battle with Owen. In a way, Randy White ended up helping
Owen get what he wanted as Owen s expulsion from Gravesend Academy led to him being
unable to go to Yale or Harvard immediately after finishing high school and made his going to the
University of New Hampshire a decision that was able to be accepted by his family and friends.
Without Randy White expelling Owen and trying as hard as possible to keep Owen out of any

The only thing that Randy White comes out of from this war with Owen Meany is a lost job.
Throughout his war with Owen Meany, Randy White had injured his lower back severely, had
to be taken out of a Volkswagen with a blowtorch that was next to his face, had been publicly
embarrassed by a student, and had been turned against by half of his faculty because of a student.
Because of Randy White s war with Owen Meany, Randy White received a vote of no confidence
from the faculty, and the Board of Trustees ultimately decided to not renew his appointment as
headmaster. It must also be noted that Randy White is almost at all not mentioned at Gravesend
Academy or anywhere else in the book after his departure from the school. This points to his
complete lack of a good legacy or sustained influence over the school. In contrast, the book states
that the new headmaster of Gravesend Academy had come to Owen s funeral, and Johnny claims
that this was perhaps acknowledging that he wouldn t have been the headmaster if Owen Meany
had not lost the battle but won the war with Randy White. Although this does not point to a huge
amount of influence on the school on Owen Meany s part, it shows that Owen Meany is still
remembered at Gravesend Academy and that Owen Meany did defeat Randy White in the

The Ukraine Crisis In Ukraine
Essay A
Introduction
On November 21, 2013, the then president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, suspended the
preparations for the implementation of a publically supported association agreement with the
European Union. As the result of Yanukovych s decision, public protests erupted in the capital city
of Kiev. After months of unrest, the protestors managed to oust Yanukovych, who fled to Russia for
asylum. Following Yanukovych s ousting, social unrest erupted around the country, especially in
the Russophone eastern and southern regions of Ukraine. As the social unrest quickly evolved into
a political crisis, Moscow moved to secure its interests in the country. Russian military intervention

tensions to rise among the public, especially in Western Ukraine and its capital city of Kiev. As the

Ultimately, resulting in Yanukovych fleeing to Russia as the protestors created a new interim
government.
Separatist Protectionism Following Yanukovych s departure to Russia on February 23, 2014,
protests by pro Russian and anti Euromaidan citizens began in Crimea. Consequently, similar
demonstrations began in eastern and southern Ukraine, including the Russophone oblasts of
Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Odessa. As the Russian military annexed Crimea, the social unrest
in the Donbass region of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts escalated into a pro Russian militancy. The
pro Russian insurgency was further rooted in the region as the new Ukrainian government repealed
the regional language laws in the 2012 Ukrainian Constitution, resulting in the prohibition of
Russian as an official language in Ukraine (Sakwa, 2016). Today, the Ukrainian government is
becoming more pro West as it becomes anti Russia (Sakwa, 2016). The opposite holds true for the

Application Of A Raspberry Pi
Everyday all over the world thousands of dollars are wasted by people forgetting or not knowing
that they have left their lights on. As a person who enjoys fixing problems I set out to design a
product to fix this problem. Before I explain the things, I have researched I should probably
explain my product itself. My product consists of a Raspberry Pi, light sensor, another circuit, and
multiple components for visual purposes and for voltage reading. As most of the parts for this
have already been made and are compatible with the Raspberry Pi, most of my product consist of
costume made coding.
The first thing I researched was the Raspberry Pi as it is the main component of this product. A
Raspberry Pi is basically a single board computer with all the same components as a normal
computer, but just much smaller. The main coding language that is used on a Raspberry Pi is
Python (that is what language we decided to go with). Finding out that a Raspberry Pi is just a
tiny computer I decided the next step would be to research the parts of a computer to fully
understand how the Raspberry Pi would be handling the data sent to it by the modules. The first
main part of a computer is the CPU (Central Processing Unit). The Central Processing Unit takes
the data, numbers, and information given to the computer and processes it in to data that the other
parts of the computer can use. The easiest way to describe it is as the brains of the computer as it
basically does the same thing as our

variety of fruit flavors. Dunkin Donuts also offers a wide variety of bakery items and
sandwiches on their menu. The bakery items are sure to capture any consumers taste cravings by
offering their famous donuts, bagels, muffins, hash browns, and more. The sandwiches on the
menu can be for breakfast, or lunch sandwiches. On the sandwiches, you can choose if you want
your meat to be bacon, sausage, ham, Angus steak, or turkey sausage. They are served on any
type of bakery item included on their menu. This shows there are so many options for sandwiches,
and even ranging to a few vegan sandwiches with just eggs or spinach. As for lunch sandwiches,
you can choose from ham, turkey, grilled cheese, chicken salad, chicken, and tuna salad. This
proves that Dunkin Donuts will satisfy any college student s food craving by appealing to everyone

plays a part in how a person copes with the strain or difficulty in their lives. Additionally,
listening to any member of the White family speak, it is highly visible that many of the members
lack a basic education and that their IQ seems to be extremely low. As we have seen, IQ and
temperament are given prominent roles as factors influencing how a person copes with strain and
thus how insulated he or she if from criminal behavior Having antisocial behavior, the lack of

Difference Between Humanistic Geography and Positivistic...
Difference Between Humanistic Geography and Positivistic Approach
There are definite differences between positivism and humanistic methods that geographers use.
Positivism, which has it s roots in quantitative theories, excludes the human element and includes
such fundamentals as cumulative data. Humanistic geography has it s roots in qualitative procedures
and focuses on the combination of research with the people.
Positivism is a rigorous and formal way to collect and analyze data that was developed around
the 1960 s by Auguste Comte (1798 1857) who is also credited with formalizing it. Studies are
clear and straight forward and researchers believe that there is only one method that all sciences
should rely on. Positivism believes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the humanistic views there are several different ways of thinking; pragmatism,
phenomenology, existentialism, and idealism. While existentialism and idealism have not been
very influential in geography, pragmatism and phenomenology have been. Pragmatism believes
that every human action is based on human perceptions and experiences. The focus is on groups
or societies rather then on individuals. Phenomenology believes that knowledge is subjective and
that the understanding of the individual is crucial. Researchers who use this method need to be
able to be sympathetic and have a deep understanding of the issue being researched. Humanistic
researchers believe that it is impossible to separate the mind and reality and therefore there
cannot be a set of standards and reproducible methods to be used. These geographers will use a
more loosely structured set of ideas and consider the individual being studied as well as the
geographer s own intuition and interpretation. One prominent geographer named Yi Fu Tuan, who
was born in 1930, was critical of geography that did not include the humanistic factor. Landscapes,
he believed, were often a result of the humans living around or near them. For example, gardens
were a persons attempt to control the environment. The humanistic approach allows the scholar to
explore a wide range of human experiences, but it lacks rigorous procedures of objective

Tree Of Life Journal Entry
The Tree of Life entry was one I created after I was able to leave work early on the weekend. I had
only worked with pastel oil colors a few times before, and wanted to draw something that was
somewhat intricate, but also set in a very smooth and free flowing background. I began by drawing
the circle, a Mandala, I just didn t know it at the time, and the trunk of the tree. As I began filling
in the outline of the tree limbs, I found myself thinking about my own family tree, and concluded
the limbs in the tree with a strong sense of the connectedness of each person alive today. I chose to
use vibrant and bright colors to silhouette the tree in oranges and yellows to represent the sun which
provides for everything the tree needs to survive,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had really wanted to try and draw concentric circles on the paper, and believed it would only look
visually appealing if I had perfect circles, so I purchased a protractor on my way home from school
that day to try in this Mandala. I initially drew the larger outer circle, then drew smaller and smaller
circles until I made it to the middle. I noticed that the tip of the protractor had actually pierced a
hole through the paper and as I looked though the tiny hole I was inspired to turn the entire
Mandala into somewhat of an eye, so I drew a pupil in the middle. I then chose to work with
colored pencil and fill the rest of the page with colors. I used a brown color in the middle to go
along with the eye theme, but then I decided to make the entry more intricate and drew squiggly
lines in the next circle, followed by a complex kaleidoscope pattern. I wanted to progressively
return the patterns back to a simpler and calmer design, and ended up with a yellow star near the
outer edge, almost looking as if it is the setting in which the eye had been mounted, like a stone
in a ring. For me, this gave the Mandala a very stable feeling, I feel as though without it, the
image may begin to swirl. I also chose to set the Mandala into a softly swirling background. I
found that I really enjoy making Mandalas and that it does not have to be geometrically perfect to
still be visually

Conflict Theory In Social Work
Social workers can utilize conflict theory in their everyday work within their communities.
Conflict theory has central propositions that suggest conflict generates social change. According
to Karl Marx, conflict is desirable because it propels social action against oppression . It is
important for us as social workers to have a greater understanding of how the political economy
shapes our lives, our consciousness and our opportunities (Robbins et al., 2011). Conflict theories
offer several explanations for what occurs in our society. Marx believed that conflict arises from
inequalities from social classdifferences. Marcuse believed that advances in technology also
brought on new forms of oppression and domination which lead to persons

Vampires are not completely fictional. In the late 1890s Bram Stoker takes historical information
and old European folktales to create famous Gothic novels like Dracula; Before writing Dracula,
he studied for eight years stories of vampires. The title of Stoker s story has historical significance
to Vlad Dracul the 3rd, a Wallachian ruler who impaled his victims on stakes. Bram Stokeralso was
influenced by his lifetime, before the publication of Dracula, Gothic and Epistolary novels were on

Writers use prior texts quite consciously and purposely (Foster 25). Writers rely on previous

The Issue Of Illegal Immigration Essay
Securing Our Borders
Illegal immigration is an issue that plagues the border states and it must be controlled.
What should be done with illegal immigrants has been a hotly contested issue in the news and also
during the current election process. In Obama s Numbers April 2016 Update , Brooks Jackson
states that in 2014, 11.3 million illegal immigrants came into the US. The Democrats and
Republicans debate on whether amnesty or mass deportation is the better alternative on what to do
with these illegal immigrants. I personally believe that mass deportation is a more effective means
of dealing with illegal immigration due to it being more cost effective than amnesty, removing
potential criminals with ties to the cartels, and is unfair to people that have or wish to come into
our country legally. The costs of amnesty is far too high to be a real solution to the illegal
immigration issue. The Immigration Bill s $6.3 Trillion Price Tag , Robert Farley states that the
cost of amnesty ranges from $6.3 to $5.3 trillion over the next 50 years. That s about $126 billion
to $106 billion per year. In Trumps Deportation Plan Prohibitively Expensive , Dolla Estevez
states that Trump s deportation plan would require the federal government to spend roughly $400
billion to $600 billion to deport 11.3 million undocumented immigrants and prevent future
unlawful entry into the U.S. over a 20 year time period, (Estevez). This is a much easier pill to

While many consumers are leading increasingly sedentary lifestyles and consuming a diet heavy in

more in sports and unafraid to spend significant amounts of money in pursuit of their passion,
which for some has become something of a lifestyle accoutrement.
a growing number of middle aged men in this age group are participating in more intensive

Leaving Town Case Study
Leaving Town
If a patient is leaving town, check script for dose end date. Once checked, leave a note for the
doctor in the patients chart then notify the doctor that the patient will be leaving town and is
requesting a script transfer. Find out how long the patient is leaving for, why the patient is leaving,
and which pharmacy he/she would like us to transfer the script too (Get the address, fax and phone
number of the pharmacy). Once the doctor has approved the script transfer, cancel the one that is at
the patient s current pharmacy. Then fax the new prescription to the new recommended pharmacy
and call the pharmacy to confirm. Afterwards, go back into the patients chart and write a new note
in bold of the pharmacy it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case you would test the patient for Suboxone.
Restart
Methadone patients are a restart after missing 3 doses.
Suboxone patients are a restart after missing 5 doses.
Take Home Dose Agreement (Carry Paper)
For this form patients will need to read it over and understand that they only get one lock box for
free. If they lose it they will have to pay for the next one ($10.00). A lock box is for the patients
carries, and comes with 2 keys for each side of the box. Don t lose it and take care of it.
New Patient (Initial Patient Assessment Form)
Always ask the doctors if they want a new patient before creating a new patient file. If there is no
health card number for the patient but the doctor will still see him/her do not print a label and
instead just write the name by hand and leave everything else blank. (Make sure to explain to the
patient how sampling works.) Always scan in all ID a patient provides.
If A Patient Is In Jail (Jail Paper)
Call the pharmacy and confirm the patient s last dose. Fill in the last dose on the page that has
been faxed over once the dose amount has been confirmed. We can t restart a patient while in jail
because they have access to an in house doctor. On weekends we are able to send a script only if
the doctor has given us permission and a signed script. (If a patient is only doing weekends make a
note in the patients chart and talk to the doctor.) Other than that there is nothing I can do.

Essay About Prison Reform
Few states had life without parole (LWOP) statutes before the 1970s, when there was an emphasis
on rehabilitation in criminal punishment and most states used indeterminate sentencing. Judges,
prison authorities, and parole boards had broad discretion in sentencing and release decisions. Life
sentences were parole eligible and either mandatory without a fixed minimum imprisonment term or
indeterminate with a fixed minimum imprisonment term. Louisiana, as an example, had the 10 6
law (R.S. 15:571.7) from 1926 to 1979 that authorized the warden of a prisonand the governor to
commute a prisoner s life sentence after he had served at least 10 years and six months with good
behavior. Throughout and beyond the decade, more states adopted determinate... Show more content

His claim that nothing works in the rehabilitation of offenders was widely accepted, as many
argued that criminal justice officials could not demonstrate offenders rehabilitation and were biased
and too lenient in the tough on crime movement (Mackenzie, 2001). In Schick v. Reed, the Court
upheld a conditional commutation granted by President Eisenhower (1974). Although the decision
discussed executive clemency, it indirectly supported life without parole statutes to come. The
Supreme Court reinstated death penalty statutes in Gregg v. Georgia on the condition that they
provided for sentencing guidelines, bifurcated trials, automatic appellate review, and proportionality
review (1976). Later that year, the Court declared mandatory death sentences without any
alternatives unconstitutional in Woodson v. North Carolina (1976). In response, states incorporated
the aforementioned provisions, or variations of them, as well as alternatives in capital cases into
their new death penalty laws. The latter stipulation led to a rise in LWOP statutes from the late
1970s to the early

Cathy Torrez Murder
The Power of Murder
Family members or people close to the victim cause 80% of murders, according to the FBI s
Expanded Homicide Data. Out of this awfully big number, a victim is Cathy Torrez. Based on
an episode of a show on NBC called Dateline, Cathy Torrez was a smart, humble, and very
determined person who had a bright future ahead of her. All her dreams and hopes were
unfortunately destroyed when her ex boyfriend Sam Lopez killed her due jealousy (About). Sam
planned to meet Cathy after work and Cathy, of course, attended their meeting. At the meeting, Sam
noticed a hickey on her neck. That hickey angered him as it was from another man Cathy had been
seeing. His jealousy turned into rage as he stabbed Cathy to her death. When Cathy was ... Show

That fan is known to be Yolanda SaldГ var, who was the president of Selena s fan club, was an
employee of Selena s businesses, and was close to her like a personal assistant or some may say
best friend. Yolanda had a big obsession for Selena that she dedicated a shrine to her (Hewitt).
Selena had no problem with Yolanda and actually loved and appreciated all that Yolanda did for
her. That was until Selena discovered, Yolanda had embezzled more than $60,000 from the fan
club and boutiques (Fernandez). Selena was mad that Yolanda had stolen money from her and
what angered her was that Yolanda denied it. As a result of this Yolanda was fired. This,
however, did not stop Yolanda as she had easy accesses to all of Selena s businesses and most
importantly her personal life. She knew Selena s strengths and weakness and this helped her
manipulate Selena. The way she manipulated Selena to her death was, Yolanda was fired, but still
held some financial paperwork for the stores. That s why Selena arranged a meeting, at the Days
Inn, where at 11:48 a.m. (CST), Yolanda shot Selena on the shoulder (Fernandez). The fact that
Yolanda was able to make Selena attend their meeting shows her manipulation, as she was smart to
keep important paperwork that would force Selena to come get it back from her. Yolanda having
that paperwork caused an argument between them that led Yolanda to grab
