Geography and Climate
•Geography
–Italy is a pennisula in the
Mediterranean Sea
–Much of it is covered by
mountains, as much as
75% of Italy
–Italy is closed in by France,
Switzerland, Austria, and
Slovenia to the north
•Climate
–Italy’s climate is generally
Mediterranean, and cold
winters.
–In the northern part, it can
reach freezing
temperatures
–In the south, the
temperatures stay in the
moderate range.

Economy/Population
–The population:60.6
million inhabitants, 70%
live in cities or towns and
the other 30% live in rural
area.
–Italy has many industries
ranging from, clothing to
tourism, manufacturing ,
and furniture.
–It mostly trades with
Germany 12.7%, France
11.6%, and the U.S 5.9%.
–Around the world, Italy’s
famous brands such as;
D&G and Versace, have
created a demand for high
quality goods.
–It’s also known for
farming such as; wheat,
olives, rice, grapes, and
citrus fruits.
–Life Expectancy:
79 year old (men)
85 years old (women)
–Income: $ 26,161.00
–Work hours: 35 hrs per
wk.
–Today, Italy economy is
facing many challenges
due to its high debt and
unemployment
–As a result, Italy credit
rating has been
downgraded

Government
–Italy’s government today is a republic, which means
the leadership is not hereditary.
–In 1946, Italy voted it government to be changed from
a monarchy to a republic. The constitution was
passed on January 1,1948.
–Its has two main leaders: the President and a Prime
Minister
–The President is elected for a seven year term, he
decides the polices, selects the Prime Minister who
heads the government.
–The Prime Minister is the most important, but he has
no fixed job in office, he can be voted out at anytime.

Culture
–Italy is known for its rich
cultural heritage, also for its
astounding beauty, cars,
fashion, arts, and warm
beaches.
–Food is big part of an
Italian families life, they
spend hours preparing
food, and a meal can last
four or more courses.
–Italy is known for food such
as; Pastas, Panini
(sandwich), Pizza, and
other delicious meat and
fish dishes.
–The main language of Italy
is, Italian. In some parts
they also speak French
and German
–The main religion is
Christianity
