The Abacus
The first calculating device is known
as the ABACUS. This device was
invented some 5,000 years ago in
China.

NAPIER’S BONES
In 1617, John Napier invented a calculating device known as
Napier’s Bones.
This calculating device was specially used for multiplications.

THE PASCALINE
CALCULATOR
In 1642, Blaise Pascal, a French
mathematician, invented the Pascal
calculator. This device, also known
as the Pascaline. This device was
limited to addition & subtraction only.

DEVICES
Difference Engine
In 1821, Charles Babbage, a
British mathematician professor,
invented the Difference Engine.
The machine had the capacity to
perform calculations.

ANALYTICAL
ENGINE
In, 1834, he invented another device
which was a programmable mechanical
calculator known as Analytical Engine.
All the modern computers are based on
the concept of Analytical Engine.

MARK 1
The first electronic computer
was invented by Howard
Aiken in 1930.
This computer had the
capacity to perform three
additions, one subraction and
one multiplication per second.

ENIAC
The first digital computer invented
was known as ENIAC.
ENIAC stands for Electronic
Numerical Integrator and
Calculator.
