EVOLUTION OF LAPAROSCOPY & Ergonomics in laparoscopy Dr QASIM MINHAS
Evolution of laparoscopy The earliest reference to laparoscopy dates back in Biblical history, where Ezekiel saw images of liver of king of Babylon. Hippocrates used vaginal and rectal speculums in 460-375BC. Light guided instrument was invented. Cystoscope was first invented in 1806 by Maximilian. In 1901 kelling did first experimental laparoscopy calling it celioscopy by insufflating dogs abdomen with filtered air using cystoscope. In 1911 12mm proctoscope was used to do laparoscopy in John Hopkins hospital to stage pancreatic cancer. 1920 CO2 insufflation,1938 Verres's needle, so on so.
