The 2014 Commonwealth Games (officially the XX Commonwealth Games) were held in Glasgow,
Scotland, from 23 July to 3 August 2014.

It was the largest multi-sport event ever held in Scotland with around 4,950 athletes from 71 different
nations and territories competing in 18 different sports

Logo of the 2014 Games
The official logo for the 2014 Commonwealth Games was unveiled on Commonwealth Day, 8 March
2010.Designed by Marque Creative, it was inspired by three factors, time, data and measurement. Its
rings are proportioned to represent the 20th Commonwealth Games, across 17 sports, over 11 days in 1
city.

Mascot:
Clyde, an anthropomorphic thistle named after the river which flows through the centre of Glasgow,
was the official mascot of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The mascot was designed by Beth Gilmour,
who won a competition run by Glasgow 2014 for children to design the Mascot.

New BRICS Bank:
The New Development Bank (NDB), formerly referred to as the BRICS Development Bank, is a
proposed multilateral

World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
The New Development Bank headquarter will be in Shanghai, China.
The Bank will have a rotating chair and its first President will come from India for the first six
years.
The first chair of the Board of Governors shall be from Russia.

The Bank will also have a regional office in Johannesburg, South Africa.

PRADHAN MANTRI JAN DHAN YOJANA
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his government's mega scheme 'Jan Dhan Yojana',
declaring that it was aimed at eradicating financial untouchability by providing bank accounts to
the poor. On the inaugural day, a record 1.5 crore bank accounts were opened across the country,
the largest such exercise on a single day possibly anywhere in the world. Unveiling the scheme
within 100 days of forming the new government, Modi said, it will cover 7.5 crore people by
January 26, 2015.
FIVE IMPORTANT FEATURES OF THE PM JAN DHAN YOJNA:
1. Under the scheme, account holders will be provided zero-balance bank account with RuPay
debit card, in addition to accidental insurance cover of Rs. 1 lakh.
2. Those who open accounts by January 26, 2015 over and above the Rs1 lakh accident, they will
be given life insurance cover
of Rs 30,000.
3. Six months of opening of the bank account, holders can avail Rs 5,000 loan from the bank.
4. With the introduction of new technology introduced by National Payments Corporation of
India (NPCI), a person can transfer
funds, check balance through a normal phone which was earlier limited only to smart phones so
far.
5. Mobile banking for the poor would be available through National Unified USSD Platform
(NUUP) for which all banks and
mobile companies have come together.

There are two ways for transferring funds
1.RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement)
2.NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer)
1.Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS)
#RTGS is one of the fastest mode of fund transfer in India through banking channel
#RTGS is nothing but transferring of money in real time on gross basis from one bank to other without
netting. This RTGS is mainly used for large transactions, Minimum amount to be remitted through this
RTGS is 2 Lakhs and there is no any upper limit
#Through RTGS system, money will be remitted for beneficiary account within 2 hours of receiving the
fund transfer message
#Main advantage of fund transferring through RTGS is remitting bank will receive the conformation
message from RBI that money have been transferred to beneficiary’s account

Timings for Transferring Funds through RTGS:
Normal Days: 09:00 hours to 16:30 hours
Week Days: 09:00 hours to 14:00 hours
Processing/Service Charges for RTGS Fund Transfer
Inward Transactions: No Charge
Outward Transactions: Rs.2lakhs to Rs.5lakhs: Rs.30/-

This NEFT will be done in 12 settlements

Week Days: 08:00 am to 01:00 pm
