MBBS Exam Ophthalmology

Exam day (4 days, Feb 25,26,27 &28)

Spotters PowerPoint projection 5 questions, Each with 3 subquestions i.e. a, b, c 15 minutes first round (3 minutes for each question) 5 minutes for revision (The questions will be displayed again for 1 minute each) Starting time: 8 AM sharp Venue: Hall Total duration: 20 minutes

Long case distribution 1 patient will be allocated to 4 or 5 students Students will be required to perform complete history, examination and list provisional diagnosis, investigations and treatment of the allocated patient. Starting time: 8:30 AM Venue: 2 groups in Hall & 2 groups in Reception Total duration: 1 hour

Examiner 1 (External) Long case + Refraction Student will present the case that was allocated. Examiner will ask questions regarding the case. Student will be evaluated on various aspects of refraction. Marks allocated to the examiner Long case- 25 marks Refraction- 5 marks

Examiner 2 (External) 2 Short cases + 1 Surgical instrument + Practical file Short cases are given in the form of photographs. Students will answer questions regarding the short case. Examiner will select an instrument for the student. Student has to identify and answer questions regarding the instrument. Marks allocated to the examiner Short case- 10 marks (5 for each short case) Surgical instrument- 5 marks Practical file- 5 marks

Examiner 3 (Internal) OSCE + Medicine In OSCE, 2 students will be called together. Examiner will ask each student has to perform 2 clinical examination skills. One student will perform examination on another student a nd vice-versa. Examiner will choose a medication for the student. Student has to identify the drug and its class. Examiner will ask questions regarding the drug. Marks allocated to the examiner OSCE- 10 (5 for each OSCE) Medicine- 5
