BytheearlyeightiesIndiaobtainedawideEEZofabout2.0134
millionsquarekmintheseaallalong7500kmlongcoastline.
Thelivingandnonlivingresourcesinthiszonemeasuredabouttwo-
thirdofcountry.
Tradingandtransportfacilitiesnavigatedthrougharea.
Millionsofpeoplelivingalongthecoastlinearedirectlyinfluencedby
oceanographyoftheEEZ.

Mineral Potential of the EEZ
Placer Deposits:
Ilmeniteplacer-RatangiriMaharashtra state south of the Bombay
west coast.
Placer deposits of the Narayanpur-Chatrapur-Goplapul coast and
Malud-Puricoast as well as Chilkalake ,Orissa state –Magnetite,
Ilmenite,Garnet, Sillimanite , Rutile, Zircon & Monazite.
In the coastal area from Kalingapatnamto Baruva, association of
Ilmenite-Sillimanite-garnet.
