3. Introduction : Eye irrigation is a procedure t hat involves flushing the eye with a saline Solution to remove harmful chemicals And particles from the eye.

4. Definition: E ye i rrigation is an eye cleaning m ethod that people use to remove a b uildup of foreign bodies. Irrigation i nvolves inserting liquid into t he eyes to flush the foreign bodies. An eye i r rigation is the wasting of the c onjuctival sac by a liquid.

5. Purpose : To relive itching. To clean the eye. To remove the foreign partical e xcessive secrations or discharge. To relive inflammation, congestion and pain. To relive foreign bodies. To apply heat or cold. To treat infection .

6. Indications of eye irrigation- : Unconscious patients. Eye irritants. Preparations for surgery. Eye inflammation or crusting. Excessive secretion.

7. Contraindication : Patients with tympanic membrane perforation. P atients with tympanostomy with tubes. Eye surgery. Allergy to medication .

8. Complication: Incomplete foreign body removal or Rusting. Conjunctivit is. Perforation of the cornea. Epithelial injury.

9. Principles involved in eye i rr igation : Anatomy and physiology. microbiology. Pharmacology. chemistry. Physics. Psychology.

10. Guidlines for eye ir r igation : Position patient in a s upine position with h ead turned s lightly toward the affected side. Direct the irrigating solution along the Conjunctiva from Inner to outer conthes.

11. Equipment: Clean and dry work surface. Dressing. Towel or water proof cape. Sterile plastic undine or I. V. In fusion set. Sterile kidney dish. Universal indicator strips. Local anaesthetic drops, as priscribed Alc t o Local policy.
