Arterial Supply of Face Two arteries: Facial artery Superficial temporal artery
Below the level of neck external carotid artery is present. When it enters the face it is divided into two branches.
Facial artery Starts at lower level of neck Pass through posterior surface of submandibular gland Passes anteroinferior to masseter muscle Cross the angle of mouth Goes towards medial side of nose Goes upward to become ophthalmic artery
5 branches: Submental artery: chin + lower lip Inferior labial artery: lower lip near angle of mouth Superior labial artery: upper lip + septum and ala of nose Lateral nasal: lateral part of nose Angular artery
Superficial temporal artery Three branches: Transverse facial artery Frontal part of STA Parietal branch of STA
Venous drainage of face Supraorbital vein + supratrochlear vein facial vein Passes through anteroinferior angle of masseter pierces deep fascia Joins anterior division of retromandibular vein Forms common facial vein Drain into internal jugular vein
