Identifying Statements of Facts Statements of facts are verifiable statement based on objective viewpoint and source from credible website and learning resources .
State in objective manner, a fact cannot be altered by personal feelings and judgement.

When making statements of fact: Do your research. Get your information from as many sources as possible and compare .
Retain that which is credible and useful and delete those that are not. Be able to cite your source/s of information. Be mindful of your tone.
Identifying statements of Opinion Opinion’s reflect the person’s perspective and judgement about issues of a subjective nature. General Multiple viewpoints, based on people’s interpretation.
When making statements of opinion: Ask yourself if your opinion is the result of someone else’s influence ; if so be able to defend it . Be able to defend it.
Be able to express your opinion clearly . Be mindful of the tone you use in your writing .
Identifying Incorrect Information Erroneous Information consists: Careless writing Lazy editing Sheer ignorance –(Lack of knowledge )
Two Kinds of Reasoning Deductive Reasoning (general to specific) The argument proceed from general assumption to more specific statements of fact, evidence or other ideas.
Example/s: All dogs have ears; golden retrievers are dogs, therefore they have ears. All racing cars must go over 80MPH; the Dodge Charger is a racing car, therefore it can go over 80MPH . Christmas is always Dec. 25th; today is Dec. 25th, therefore it's Christmas.
Inductive Reasoning ( Specific to General) Kind of reasoning proceeds from specific premise to general conclusion . Also known as Bottom-Up logic or cause or effect argument.
For example, I f you notice that every time you eat spicy food, you get a stomach ache, you might use inductive reasoning to conclude that spicy food causes stomach aches .
Example : For the past three years, the company has exceeded its revenue goal in Q3. Based on this information, the company is likely to exceed its revenue goal in Q3 this year.
Anybody who breaks into a building may have opportunity, motive and means. Renee was in the area, dislikes the homeowner and has lock picks in his bag. Renee likely broke into the building.
