2. Yaşar Kemal was one of Turkey's leading
writers. He got 38 awards during his life and was
long a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature,
on the strenght of “İnce Memed”. Some of his
books were traslated into 29 languages.

received the 2006 Nobel Prize for
Literature, becoming the second youngest
person to receive the award in its history.
