Field trip method of health education

1. FIELD TRIP Presented by: Bijay Chaudhary BPH 3 rd Semester MIHS

2. INTRODUCTION Field trip is an educational procedure by which the learners obtain first hand information by observing places,objects,phenomena and processes in their natural setting. It is also known as eductional tour. Eg:Visit to water purification plant.

3. PURPOSES To provide real life situations for the first hand information. To supplement class room instructions. To serve as a pre view of a lession and gather instructional material. To verity previous information,class discussion and to conclude individual experience.

4. TECHNIQUES OF TRIP 1)Preplanning of trip: Determine the goal/objectives for trip. Select feasible location and get consent from the concerbed authority. Contact and finalize the trip site about reservation including the service of guide. Discuss about the activities and preparation thet will be done during trip.

5. 2)During field trip: Make sure you listen to the guide and interact with them asking questions. Being active in field by taking notes,taking pictures and comparing with what we have learnt. Exchange knowledge,ideas on the spot among the student groups to clearify their doubts. Provide short rest after trip and entertain through songs,dances or games.

6. 3)After field trip: Discuss about the field experience,exchange knowledge,observations and objectives whether they are met or not. Sort out difficulties and obstacles during trip and ways to reduce it in further trips. Prepare a brief report of the trip and submit to the concerned department.

7. ADVANTAGES It allows participants to have a real world experience. Helps to develop knowledge and skills in certain aspects. Creates interest and curiosity for learning. Develop self confidence. Develop the good coordination between Teachers and participants.

8. DISADVANTAGES More expensive to the institute/departments. If unplanned,will not be effective. Difficult to manage fooding,lodging and transportation. Accidents,unusual incidents may occur.

9. CONCLUSION Field trip is an effective method for health promotion and education where we learn through direct experience in real situation.
