First 10 elements of the periodic table

General information-

The periodic table we use today is based on the one devised and
published by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869
All the rows go left to right, and elements have something in common if
they are in the same row
Electrons are the negatively charged particles of an atom, protons are
the positively charged particles of an atom
Together, all of the electrons of an atom create a negativecharge that
balances the positive charge of the protons in the atomic nucleus
Atoms are the general term used to describe pieces of matter and
they have three basic parts; protons, neutrons and electrons
Atomic shells- the centre is called the nucleus, electrons are found in
areas called shells that surround the centre of the atom (energy level)
and each of those shells have a name

Every element in the top row (the first period) has one orbital for its
electrons and all the elements in the second row (second period) have
two orbitals for their electrons
