Shahada
The word “Shahada”
means Testimony.
TAKE NOTE:
The Arabic term for the
declaration of faith in one God
(Allah) and His messenger.
It is the most sacred statement in
Islam, and must be recited with
full understanding and
mindfulness of it’s meaning.

The Shahada is an Islamic declaration of faith and serves as the foundation of the
religion. It is recited by Muslims as a part of their daily prayers and is also recited
by individuals when they convert to Islam.
THE SHAHADA
By reciting the Shahada, a person affirms their belief
in the fundamental principles of Islam and declares
their acceptance of Allah as the only God
and Prophet Muhammad as His messenger. This
declaration is considered an essential and central aspect of
Islamic faith and is an entry point to the religion.
Monotheism (Tawhid): The first part of the Shahada, "La ilaha illallah,"
affirms the belief in the oneness of Allah. It emphasizes the concept of
monotheism and the understanding that there is no deity worthy of
worship except Allah.
The Meaning behind the Shahada
Prophethood (Risalah): The second part of the Shahada,
"Muhammadun rasul Allah," acknowledges Muhammad as the final
prophet sent by Allah to guide humanity.

Unity and Equality: The Shahada promotes the idea of unity and equality among
Muslims. It affirms that all believers, regardless of their ethnicity, race, or social
status, are connected through a shared belief in Allah and the finality of
Muhammad's message.

submission to Allah. It serves as a personal commitment to follow the teachings of
