In today’s dynamic job market, it’s fascinating to reflect on the contrasting approaches to work
that have emerged between generations. Baby boomers often recount a time when hard work
and dedication were the cornerstones of career advancement. They remember the long hours
spent polishing skills, networking tirelessly, and climbing the corporate ladder, viewing their
commitment as a pathway to success.
However, as we look at the younger generation entering the workforce, there's a palpable shift
in expectations. Many members of Gen Z and millennials express a sense of entitlement,
believing that their qualifications should translate directly into promotions and favorable
positions without the same level of toil that previous generations endured. This feeling can
sometimes come across as a lack of appreciation for the value of hard work and perseverance.
This generational rift has given rise to debates about competence in an ever-changing world.
Some older professionals see younger workers as complacent, while younger individuals may
view their predecessors as out of touch with modern values and work-life balance priorities. It’s
