forced labor. Forced labor, also known as modern-day slavery, is a form of exploitation and abuse where individuals are forced to work against their will, often for little or no pay. Millions of people around the world are subjected to this inhumane practice, and it is a violation of their basic human rights. The use of forced labor is not a new problem, but it continues to persist in various forms and industries, such as agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and domestic work. This practice can affect anyone, regardless of their age, gender, or nationality. Forced labor can also lead to physical and mental abuse, poor working conditions, and restricted freedom.

forced labor is the most common type of slavery it affects millions of people globally and is often found in industries where there is little regulation such as agriculture domestic work mining and manufacturing forced or compulsory labor is all work or service which is exacted from any person under the threat of a penalty and for which the person has not offered himself or herself voluntarily

49.6 million  people were living in modern slavery in 2021, of which  27.6 million  were in forced labour and  22 million  in forced marriage. Of the 27.6 million people in forced labour ,  17.3 million  are exploited in the private sector;  6.3 million  in forced commercial sexual exploitation, and  3.9 million  in forced labour imposed by state like concentration camps . Women and girls account for  4.9 million  of those in forced commercial sexual exploitation, and for  6 million  of those in forced labour in other economic sectors. 12%  of all those in forced labour are children.  More than half  of these children are in commercial sexual exploitation. The Asia and the Pacific region has the highest number of people in forced labour ( 15.1 million ) and the Arab States the highest prevalence ( 5.3 per thousand people ). Addressing decent work deficits  in the informal economy, as part of broader efforts towards economic formalization,  is a priority  for progress against forced labour .

Forced labor is rampant even in this modern times, this occurs in every place in the world and the target victims of this modern day issue is people living in poverty, or in the lowest place in the society. Forced labor is vey common among the third world country like Africa, middle east and southeast asia .
