”God forsaking God who can understand that?” Martin Luther

Forsaken - Abandonment

Forsaken- A bandonment

Why was He suffering spiritually?    He was bearing the guilt of the entire world on Himself.  2 Corinthians 5 : 21 , NIV: "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2.Jesus became the sinner’s substitute     .

God did turn His back on Jesus judicially but not relationally.  God cannot look on sin Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Hab.1:13

God did turn His back on Jesus judicially but not relationally.  God loved His Son Jesus and did not abandon Him relationally.   John 8 : 29 ,  KJV : "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him."

1. GOD IS NEAR EVEN WHEN HE SEEMS SO FAR AWAY. why God hasn't intervened.   We begin questioning ourselves. We begin to question whether or not God even cares.   We feel as though God has abandoned us. He is nowhere to be found.   We feel alone and isolated from God.

1. David experienced a feeling of isolation from God when he was running for his life from Saul. ( Ps. 13:1) 2.  Job, who lost everything-his children, his wealth, his servants, his reputation, and his friends-experienced despair and isolation from God. (Job 23:1-9).

C ast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.    ( 1 Pet. 5:7)

2. WE MUST REMAIN FAITHFUL TO GOD EVEN IF WE FEEL ISOLATED FROM HIM. He didn’t give up on His faith or on His mission to save mankind from their sins.   Jesus didn’t give up.   He didn’t curse God and blame Him for His circumstances.   Jesus trusted in God and remained faithful to Him.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

Jesus will give us the crown of life … ” (Rev. 2:10).
