13. THIRD DAY ST. DOMINIC DE GUZMAN NOVENA IN HONOR OF

14. ACT OF CONTRITION

15. O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You.

16. and I detest all my sins because I dread

17. the loss of heaven and the pains of hell,

18. but most of all because I offend You, my God,

19. who are all good and deserving of all my love.

20. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace,

21. to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

22. PRAYER FOR EVERYDAY

23. O God who raised up the world through the passion,

24. death and resurrection of Your Son,

25. grant that we who are gathered today

26. in honor of St. Dominic, may humble ourselves,

27. renounce the things of this world

28. and die to the pomps and vanities of life.

29. Send us Your Holy Spirit that we may all be one in truth

30. and be one in love so that like St. Dominic,

31. Your faithful servant, we may be living witnesses

32. of Your goodness, truth and love

33. in a society "fragmented by divisive conflicts

34. and afflicted with widespread poverty."

35. Help us, St. Dominic, to seek always the glory of God,

36. to direct all our affections, desires and efforts

37. in proclaiming the kingdom of God through our words, deeds and lives.

39. and as the many other Dominican saints did during their times.

44. O Blessed St. Dominic, whose apostolic zeal flowed from a life grounded in prayer and contemplation

45. obtain for us the grace to allow God’s Word to take root in us

46. that we may preach courageously in season and out of season.

47. Pray for us that in spite of the overwhelming busyness and clutteredness of our lives,

48. we may discover our own rhythm of prayer and find a home in God’s Word.

49. In silence we offer a prayer we wish to obtain through the prayers of St. Dominic. Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory Be...

51. O wonderful hope that you had given at the hour of your death

52. when you promised to be of more help to us after your death!
