Combustion in

Ignition quality is
measured using a
cetane number (CN).
The diesel fuel must
ignite readily when
mixed with hot
compressed air.

is a measure of a

Cold Behavior
At temperatures below freezing, paraffin wax may precipitate out of diesel
fuel to form large crystals which can clog fuel filters.
The temperature at which this starts to occur is known as the ‘cloud point’.

Point’ (CFPP) is the
temperature when fuel
no longer flows freely
through a fuel filter.
