In general, communication is a means of connecting people or places. In business, it is a key function of management--an organization cannot operate without communication between levels, departments and employees.

Effective communication by business managers facilitates information sharing between company employees and can substantially contribute to its commercial success .

It can also be defined as relaying of information within a business by its people. It can also refer to internal communication that takes place within an organization.
