FAMILY WELFARE is broader term for family planning .It is basically related to raise the living standard of people. Family welfare includes the integrated packages of the services. GOI was the first in the world to introduce family welfare during the first five year plan in 1952 as family planning programme In 1977 ,the GOI designated the family planning programme as a family welfare programme and changed the name of ministry of health and family planning as ministry of health and family welfare. Family welfare services are voluntary Family welfare program will provide comprensive maternal and child health services and also family planning services. For creating awarness , IEC (information, education & communication ) will be used effectively. Popular and easily available family planning services will be provided free of cost. BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE FAMILY WELFARE PRORAM

Population of country can be controlled. Health for all can be achieved. Per capita income of family can be increased. Good nutrition,education,good standard of living will result in good society and strong citizen.
