EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Plants are organisms. Organism means a living thing. They can grow and multiply. Scientists believe that there are more than300,000 different varieties of plants on our planet. Amazing, isn't it?

EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Plants breathe in carbon dioxide , which is a gas that people and animals breathe out. Plants provide oxygen that we breathe. Green plants are unique in a sense that they make their own food. They use energy from sunlight, carbon dioxide from the air, and water from the soil. This process is called photosynthesis. The word photosynthesis means "putting together with light."

EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Plants may vary in color. Many have different shades of green, but the others may not be green at all. Plants have leaves that differ in size and shape. Some can be very, very small while some are huge and tall, like palm trees. Moss, weeds and herbs are examples of small and tiny plants.

EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Flowering Plants Some plants produce flowers. They can have different colors , sizes , shapes , and scents . Plants produce flowers that make seeds so that another plant can grow.

EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Trees Trees are tall, woody plants that have leaves, branches, and a single trunk. Compared to other plant forms, trees live longer. Some trees grow very tall, and can even live for several thousand years.

EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Some trees produce flowers and fruits, like the papaya. Papaya trees can grow from 10 to 12 feet high. Papaya fruits grow near the canopy or the top covering of the leaves.

EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Vegetables Vegetables are kinds of plant that have parts that can be eaten. They are excellent sources of vitamins A and C.

EPCLC Private Property. Not for sale. Plants are living things that grow on the ground and do not move on their own. Plants provide oxygen for people to breathe. They can make their own food by using the energy they get from sunlight . We see different plants around us like flowering plants , fruit bearing trees , and vegetables . Plants vary in shape, color, and size. The wide variety of plants around us makes this world a beautiful place to live in.
