2. Objectives: Introduce you to LGBT or LGBTQIA. Recognize key terms and culturally appropriate usage of language with LGBTQ or LGBTQIA communities. Discuss trauma in relation of health disparities among LGBT or LGBTQIA youth.

3. What is LGBT or LGBTQIA? LGBT is an acronym for lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender and queer or questioning Intersex Asexual or Aromantic. These terms are used to describe a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

4. LESBIAN A women who’s enduring physical, romantic, and or emotional attraction is to other women. GAY The adjective used to describe people whose enduring physical, romantic, and or emotional attractions are to people of he same sex.

5. Bisexual A person who has the capacity to form enduring physical, romantic and or emotional attractions to those of the same gender or to those of another gender. Transgender An umbrella term for people whose gender identity and or gender expression differs from what is typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth.

6. QUEER An adjective used by some people, particularly younger people whose sexual orientation is not exclusively heterosexual. QUESTIONING Sometimes, when is seen the end of LGBT, it can also mean questioning. This led to explanation of structures called gender schemas that grew out of societies which considered sex typing to be an optimal as well as a necessary practice.

9. PROBLEMS OF FACED BY LGBT PEOPLE: 3. PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS >A significant number of LGBT people ,most particularly younger LGBT people, had to cope with stigmatization ,discrimination and harassment without support.

10. PROBLEMS FACED BY LGBT PEOPLE: 4. POOR ECONOMIC CONDITION AND DISCRIMINATION IN THE WORKPLACE >Discrimination of LGBT persons in the workplace is a significant factor in the differences in socioeconomic status for LGBT persons.

11. PROBLEMS FACED BY LGBT PEOPLE: 5. LEGAL INJUSTICE >Many police departments continue to be accused of insensitivity, including not appropriately responding to violence directed at LGBT people.
