QUARTER WEEK 7 DAY 1

REVIEW Directions : Give five (5) benefits that can be derived from Animal Raising. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

If you plan to raise animals for business, what kind of animals are you going to raise?

IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN FOR FAMILY’S ANIMAL RAISING PROJECT Implementing means putting into action what has been planned by following every step or process in it. Successful implementation needs control, suspension, and guidance in the care of animals.

IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN FOR FAMILY’S ANIMAL RAISING PROJECT 1. Be systematic in raising and caring for your animals. Follow your schedule of work including preparation of feeds, time for feeding, amount of feeds for each animal, bathing, cleaning of housing and surrounding, recording, immunization, visit to the veterinarian and actual weighing.

IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN FOR FAMILY’S ANIMAL RAISING PROJECT 2. Use a chart to record the growth and progress of each animal. Have a specific period (weekly/ monthly) when to record weight. The chart should contain age of animal, date of weighing, weight taken weekly or monthly, and weight gained.

IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN FOR FAMILY’S ANIMAL RAISING PROJECT 3. Monitor regularly the growth and progress of animals using the chart. 4. If problems occur regarding the health and progress of animals, consult other experienced animal growers.

IMPLEMENTING THE PLAN FOR FAMILY’S ANIMAL RAISING PROJECT 5. Surf the internet to gain more knowledge of animals raising and be updated of recent studies.

ACTIVITY 1 Directions : Write TRUE if the statement is correct, FALSE if not. 1. To be successful in animal raising, it is important to be systematic in raising and caring for your animals, following a schedule for various tasks, including feeding, cleaning, and veterinary care.

ACTIVITY 1 2. It is recommended to use a chart to record the growth and progress of each animal, including their age, date of weighing, and weight gained, on a regular basis, such as weekly or monthly.

ACTIVITY 1 3. It is not necessary to monitor the growth and progress of animals regularly using a chart; occasional checks are sufficient. 4. When encountering problems related to the health and progress of animals, it is advisable to seek advice from experienced animal growers.

ACTIVITY 1 5. Surfing the internet to gain more knowledge about animal raising and staying updated on recent studies is not a useful practice for improving your animal raising skills.

ASSESSMENT Directions : Write a letter or note to another person, character, political figure, etc. telling him/her something you know or think about implementing plan on animal raising.

ASSESSMENT

QUARTER WEEK 7 DAY 2

REVIEW Directions: Search and encircle the words in the crossword puzzle.

MONITORING GROWTH AND PROGRESS Animal raising project is expected to gain as an additional source of family income. By this, you need to maintain the records of all your transaction.

MONITORING GROWTH AND PROGRESS Assuming that business is good, farm products are abundant and daily operations are at its peak, you should be able to set standards for all aspects of production.

MONITORING GROWTH AND PROGRESS For example, the quantity of milk produced every day, the number of young born every breeding cycle, the number of animals sold every selling season, growth and progress of the animal weekly/monthly, etc.

MONITORING GROWTH AND PROGRESS 1. Litter Records • Birth weight (1.5 kg is good) • Weaning weight (18kg is good) 2. Dams/Sow Record • Number of piglets weaned per year (18 is good)

MONITORING GROWTH AND PROGRESS 3. Marketing • Number of Animals, age and weight 4. Feed Conversion Rate • A satisfactory conversion ratio should be 1 kg live weight gain for 3 to 5 kg of feed consumed by an animal.

MONITORING GROWTH AND PROGRESS 5. Costs and Returns of Production • All expenses and sales recorded for one year to compute the returns on your investment (ROI) at the end of the year.

ACTIVITY 2 Directions: Encircle TRUE or FALSE . 1. True or False: Keeping records of transactions is not necessary for an animal raising project aimed at increasing family income.

ACTIVITY 2 2. True or False: Setting standards for various aspects of production, such as milk quantity and animal growth, is important in a successful animal raising project. 3. True or False: Birth weight of 1.5 kg is considered good for young animals in a litter.

ACTIVITY 2 4. True or False: Weaning weight of 18 kg is a satisfactory benchmark for young animals in an animal raising project. 5. True or False: Monitoring the number of piglets weaned per year is crucial for assessing the performance of dams or sows.

ASSESSMENT Directions : Draw if the statement is correct, if not. 1. In animal marketing records, it is essential to document the number of animals, their age, and weight.

ASSESSMENT 2. A satisfactory feed conversion ratio for animals is 1 kg of live weight gain for every 3 to 5 kg of feed consumed. 3. Monitoring the feed conversion rate helps in optimizing feed efficiency and reducing production costs.

ASSESSMENT 4. Records of all expenses and sales should be maintained for one year to calculate the return on investment (ROI) for an animal raising project.

ASSESSMENT 5. The ROI is calculated at the beginning of the year to plan the project's budget effectively.

QUARTER WEEK 7 DAY 3

REVIEW Directions: Put a if the statement is correct, if not. 1. Regularly tracking the growth and progress of animals on a weekly or monthly basis is not necessary for project management.

REVIEW 2. Setting standards for milk production is more important than other aspects of animal raising. 3. Achieving good birth and weaning weights in young animals is not a critical factor for project success.

REVIEW 4. The number of piglets weaned per year has a negligible impact on the overall productivity of the animal raising project. 5. Analyzing costs and returns can help make informed decisions about the future of the animal raising project but is not crucial for its success.

Why is it important to learn proper record management?

KEEPING AN UPDATED RECORD OF GROWTH/PROGRESS RAISING ANIMALS MUST Raising animals must be given ample time and careful thought. Keeping an updated record is a way to achieve your goals in livestock raising.

KEEPING AN UPDATED RECORD OF GROWTH/PROGRESS RAISING ANIMALS MUST Most importantly, recording every detail of the progress and growth of farm animals must be done all the time. Records will serve as a future reference for improving the business.

KEEPING AN UPDATED RECORD OF GROWTH/PROGRESS RAISING ANIMALS MUST

ACTIVITY 3 Directions: Create a chart to record the growth and progress of animals raised by your parents, neighbor, or other animal farmers in your locality, to be used in their monitoring.

ASSESSMENT Directions: How can you convince people the importance of record keeping and monitoring of the growth and progress of their animal raising project.

QUARTER WEEK 7 DAY 4

REVIEW Directions: Why keeping an updated record of growth/progress is important in animal raising?
