PROGRAM PROFILE
Title
Gender and Development (GAD) Training
Rationale
Gender and Development (GAD) is one of the mandates of the Department of Education as
stipulated in the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) or Republic Act (RA) 9710, RA 10533 or the Enhanced
Basic Education Act of 2013, and in the 1987 Philippine Constitution. In line with this mandate, the
DepEd issued a Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy that integrates the principles of equality,
gender equity, gender sensitivity, non-discrimination, and human rights to ensure access to quality basic
education for all. School leaders play a vital role in promoting this mandate.
As part of our commitment, the Yeban Integrated School designed a program to empower educators
with the competencies and strategies necessary to create a gender-responsive learning environment.
This 2-day training serves as professional development for classroom managers and is of great help
in improving teaching strategies and practices in integrating GAD in Basic Education for the school year
2023-2024.
