GATE – 2025 CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Paper Consists – No of Questions = 65 Total Marks = 100 30 questions of 1 marks = 30 marks 35 questions of 2 marks = 70 marks Total = 100 marks Technical (including Maths ) = 85 marks Aptitude = 15 marks

Technical Subjects 1) Thermodynamics 2) Process Calculations 3) Fluid Mechanics 4) Heat Transfer 5) Mass Transfer 6) Instrumentation and Process Control 7 ) Chemical Reaction Engineering   8) Mechanical Operations 9) Plant Design and Economics 10) Chemical Technology 11) Mathematics 12) Aptitude

Sources – Most Preferred – Online Coaching Long Subjects Distribution of Marks 1) Thermodynamics 5-7 2) Fluid Mechanics 7-10 3) Heat Transfer 8-10 4) Mass Transfer 10-12 5) Instrumentation and Process Control 9-11 6) Chemical Reaction Engineering 10-12 7) Mathematics 13 8) Aptitude 15

Short Subjects Distribution of Marks 1) Process Calculations 2-3 2) Mechanical operations 3-5 3) Plant Design and Economics 3-5 4 ) Chemical Technology 3-5

Steps from Scratch – 1) Complete lectures from videos. 2) For long subjects 40- 60 lectures are there 3) Long subjects can take 1-1.5 months for video completion 4) Short subjects can take 15 -20 days for video completion 5) After completing a subject revise the whole notes in 2-3 days at max .

6) Start solving Previous Year Questions (PYQs) from 2000-2024 7) You can start new subject alongwith solving PYQs. 8) You can watch recorded videos if you can not present in the live lectures. 9) You can solve 40-50 questions in a day so that you can learn applying your learned concepts in different questions. 10) After Completing PYQs of a subject you gained enough clarity of a subject to make short notes.

11) Prepared short notes well. Remember it’s a “Short Notes” so it should be under 20 pages at max for long subjects and 10 pages at max for short subjects . 12 ) After completing 6-7 subjects you should start solving test series . 13 ) At least 4 subjectwise tests for each subject . 14) You can take multiple tests to fulfill point no 13. 15) You must complete around 80% of your subjects along with PYQs and test series till November End.

16) You must start giving Full length Test (FLT) from December onwards. 17) 1 Day – 1 tests and check your mistakes properly in the test you made then only move to the second tests. 18) Remember – Quality is more important than Quantity. 19) If you can not solve 100 tests, solve 50 but that 50 has to be so wisely solved that you can not afford making any single question wrong in the real exam coming from the concepts you applied in those 50 tests. 20) All the best !
