2. OVER VIEW GEOGRAPHY IS A DISCIPLINE THAT ENCOMPASSES THE STUDY OF THE EARTH’S PHYSICAL FEATURES, HUMAN POPULATIONS AND THE MANNER BY WHICH PEOPLE INTERACT WITH THEIR ENVIRONMENT. IT HAS BEEN TERMED “THE MOTHER OF ALL DISCIPLINES” BECAUSE IT GIVES A FOUNDATION FOR UNDERSTANDING OTHER FIELD OF STUDY SUCH US ARCHAEOLOGY, AGRICULTURE, HISTORY, ECONOMICS,PUBLIC HEALTH AND POLITICS. BY THE END OF THIS PRESENTATION WE ARE GOING TO UNDERSTAND HOW GEOGRAPHY HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF OTHER DISCIPLINES AND WHY IT IS CONSIDERED “THE MOTHER OF ALL DISCIPLINES .

With the help of Geography archaeologists are able to take coordinates of sites they excavate. Geography helps archaeologists in preservation of artifacts. Geographers study environmental factors such as climate change and natural disasters and develop plans to limit their impacts on artefacts.

The location of natural resources such as fertile land and water affects production in agriculture. Geography helps in the identification of areas with suitable weather conditions and natural resources such as fertile land and water.

Geography affect the way of life of people. Taking into consideration what people ate in the past, the topography and the climate in which they found themselves affected what kind of crop they grew and consumed. By studying the geography of a region, historians can gain better understanding of the environmental factors that affected historical events and the way in which people related to their environment.
