2. What is Geotag?
•A geotag defines the longitude and latitude of the
tagged item or it defines the location place name or
region.
•GeoTaggingis the process of adding geographical
identificationto various media such as photograph,
video, websites, SMS messages, QR Codes etc.
•By placing a geotag on a Web page, website, orRSS
feed, you provide information to your readers and to
search engines about the geographical location of the
site.

3. Use of Geotagging?
•To showcase online activities for academic / business purpose
•To showcase activities on social media
•To add geographical location of any company / organization / travel
agencies on Google map and Wikipedia
•To grow your local business, you need local results from web
searches. You need to find the customers in your local area, and get
information to them when they need it.
•Geotagginghelps the search engines make the connection between
your photo and the location of what it depicts or where and when it
was taken, or both.

5. Use Geotags cautiously to Protect Your Privacy
•Location data is being recorded about you without
your knowing it in many cases.
•Your cellphone provides location data to the cell
towers near it. When you send email, your ISP
provides data about where the email was sent
from and so on.
•Geo tagging can disclose your whereabouts and
activities to the wrong people, if you post the
latitude and longitude of your house.

6. Use geo tagging safely : Some tips
•GPS should be “on” only when needed
•Think before posting tagged photos.Ask yourself: If in doubt, don’t
post
•Know how to turn geotagging on and offon all your devices and
cameras, and be aware of whether it is on.
•Regularly review what applications are using location servicesand
turn them off for any that don’t require it.
•Keep your privacy settings on social media up to dateso you know
who will be able to view tagged photos.
•Deactivate geo-tagging functions on your social media accounts that
you maintain frequently.

•Geotagging data.Geotagging is added automatically to many
photos taken with smartphones or modern digital cameras that are
GPS-enabled. The data is embedded in the photo itself and
includes information such as where and when the photo was taken
and with what device
•Change Photo Datewith Windows File Explorer
•Select thephotoyou want tochange, right-click thephotoand choose
Properties.
•Click the Details tab.
•UnderDateTaken you can simply enter thedateor click the calendar icon.
Notice that you cannotchangethe time.
•Press Apply.
•Press OK.
